There are many ways to do a color-themed music series here on MyLot. @JohnRoberts picks a color and sticks with it. @dgobucks226 picks a color and doles out interesting trivia as clues while you try to guess the band or artist. As for me, I'm all over the place, both with colors, and musically. We are at #5 in my Favorite "Color" Songs countdown: "Cobalt Blue" by James Ray's Gangwar. "Cobalt Blue" is the leadoff track for the Gangwar's second album, Third Generation. As you probably have surmised, the song was not a hit. I don't even know if it was released as a single. I do know that I love to blast it whenever I listen, though. James Ray performed some of the vocals for Sisters of Mercy leader Andrew Eldritch's side project, The Sisterhood, on the album, Gift. Ray first fronted James Ray and The Performance, a goth act heavily influenced by the American southwest. James Ray's Gangwar took that style and added a bit more oomph to it, then headed towards a more industrial sound with Third Generation. "Cobalt Blue" is, in a way, two separate songs. The first part is a keyboard and flute buildup, which morphs into an electronic industrial tune that still sounds great a couple decades later (I purchased the CD back in the 90's. Hard to believe it's been that long.) And yes, it sounds better when turned up loud. Really loud! (Info verified by Wikipedia)

You're right, it is two different "moves" or songs. And I don't know, but if my name were James Ray I might change it....unless it was a punk band,

That's true. If you do a search for "James Ray," the other James Ray comes up.

It's pretty obscure except for goth and industrial fans.
