Strange weekend

We went to our daughter's house in Charleston, SC this weekend to celebrate our oldest grandson's birthday.
He flew in from Maine and it really was great to see him.
His little 2 year old girl was there, so of course she entertained us.
The strange parts, though were when we stopped on the way at a convenience store to buy a bag of ice and some gas when a guy accused my husband of stealing a bag of ice!
My husband isn't perfect, but he's the most honest person I know. He told the man that I had gone into the store to pay for the ice, but the guy kept accusing him!
Later we drove in a severe thunderstorm which was unnerving. Sunday night, our daughter took our grandson to the airport (hour and a half away) and was on the way home when he called to tell her he left his car keys at her house!
She had to fly back to the airport (her husband met her with the keys), and thank God, our grandson boarded the plane one and a half minutes before they took off.
To top off this weird weekend, on the way home in the dark and rain, my daughter saw the dead body of a bicyclist on the highway who had just been hit by a car.
I love seeing our kids, but I was thankful to be home and have this weekend over with!

That sounds like a sci-fi movie for sure.

On the way we were surrounded by huge pickups heading for Myrtle Beach, roaring their engines, weaving in and out of lanes, and we were this Camry caught right in the middle of them.

@AbbyGreenhill Probably, since they were headed for Myrtle Beach.

That is a long way aways. I wish all our grands (yours and mine) lived closer.

@1creekgirl So do I. We surely won't see them often enough.

Thanks, Tiara. It was sure different than usual, although we did love being with some of the kids.

@1creekgirl They seem to know just who they could take such liberties with.

That really was a strange weekend. Although it was nice to see your family members, I'm sure you would have liked to have had a less "weird" weekend.

@1creekgirl - I agree. I always heard it was a curse to be told "may you live an interesting life." I prefer boring!

The ambulance and police were there, but it was so harrowing to see him. It was at night and raining, so I'm sure it was hard for the other driver to see him, but so sad.

It sounds hectic, but nice you could spend time with family. Odd aobut the ice. Maybe they had just had a theft - and the man was primed to accuse someone? (Something similar happened with my friend and a soda in a fast food restaurant)

Maybe, but I think that guy was bored and wanted his 15 minutes of fame on the 6 o'clook news when he caught a thief.

Yes, special family gatherings and events are fun. I guess the fact that they don't happen frequently is what makes them special. But it usually feels good to get back to a normal routine.
Wow, strange events in a short time span too! Good timing re. the car keys delivery.
