“What natural disaster are you most scared of?”

It has been 27 years ago when my city struck a strong earthquake with a magnitude of 7.7 in 16th of July 1990. The first strike of the earthquake was in upward motion and continued the aftershock for a couple of times. Then, the sudden changed its course to the sideward motion. There are so many real dramas happened during that time. For instance, a neighbor who is so religious claimed that Jesus will come down from heaven. Of course, the rest of the neighbors are whining about it on the street. There are so many local people died and buried alive who were working, studying, or living in high buildings.
I see places, structures, things, etc. were totally damaged in my city. That includes the Baguio Hilltop Hotel, whenever I am going to visit the public market. I usually see and wondered that the hotel never been used. That would be a big mystery for now. I will try to find the answer soon.

Here we got many earth quake in 2006 I guess. It was very scary. I was on holiday and I thought someone knocking my door. But it was actually Earth quake. Actually I was on hill station so impact was quite low. But when I saw news it was quite big one.

I hope you will not experience it, my friend. It was a really a difficult situation. During that time, I tried to sleep on the street with the other neighbors. It worries us for not having the basic needs. All the roads are not passable from nearby provinces.

No...I never did experience something of that magnitude...though I have experienced two earthquakes..the first one was slightly longer (if we can call few seconds that). It felt like there was something inside me that was linked to the core of the earth...magnetic force? Whatever...but that was a strange feeling. The second one was very brief but it had a loud sound...don't think either was strong enough...like the one you mentioned because our city is in Zone II ..meaning no danger of any calamities due to earthquake.

It is nice to hear that, my friend. After the major earthquake in my city, it more than a month before the students can go back to their school. The major roads are closed. Basically, we slept on the street in tents for a week. Then, we go back to our house and experiencing aftershocks for the succeedings days.

I experienced the 9.0 earthquake in Japan in 2011 and the subsequent aftershocks. However, now that I know earthquakes are not random events but can be forecasted (you read my post on that, I know) I am not so scared of them. When I was in elementary school, my town was destroyed by a tornado. I am more scared of tornadoes.

Living in North Carolina, my daughter's family had been through several hurricanes, Andrew and Ivan were of these storms. Yes, I was frightened for their lives!:(

I grew up with tornadoes, but, did not experience one myself. I did experience a flood in my apartment and it was horrible. I was in at the time sleeping. The firemen had to break the window to get me out and there were things I could never replace. I also experienced an earthquake here in Jerusalem. I was having a lesson at the time in a bomb shelter and all of a sudden things started to shake. It was pretty scary. My cat was home alone and I just hope that she was fine. When I got home she seemed fine to me.

It is the earthquake that I fear most! Yes, I remember that earthquake in July . We were "typing" our stories for the day when earthquake hit and we rushed out of the building for safety.
