To do a wedding album or not?

I got married in November of 2016 and have yet to get my professional wedding album. The question is: to do a wedding album or not?
Based on what I see in my contract, a professional wedding album I want will cost me one grand. That's a huge chunk of money to spend. I am not sure I want to part with that high an amount but it's memories of one of the most important days of my life. Sure, I can probably just print the photos myself and put it into an album but it won't be the same as the wedding albums that are professionally done.
Also, in order to have the wedding album made I have to pick out about 85 photos. The total photos I have been given is 850. How am I supposed to narrow down from 850 to 85 and without losing my mind? Any suggestions?

My DIL got a wedding album and it is just beautiful! The pages are very thick and the photos are part of the pages, not just glued on or inserted in plastic. I think it is worth the price. It took her a long time to pick the photos. She picked out her very favorites then had her mom and her husband pick out theirs. Altogether there were about 200. That made a manageable pile to sort through. It still took a long time but it was a good system for her and helped her choose.
I recently sorted through about 3 boxes of photos taken over the past 30 years. I sorted them by year then picked my favorites and set aside the others for the kids to look through. Out of my favorites I chose just a few from every year, a couple of each child individually and a couple of them together. Organizing the task that way made it easier.
Work in small amounts till you have the ones that truly capture the joy of that day and how you felt.

Yes, that is the album I want. And it also has photos that are blended into each other on the page. Not sure how to explain that correctly. It is worth it but could've been a bit cheaper. One thousand bucks is a lot to spend.

@lovebuglena It is a lot to spend but the album will last generations. I personally would not spend that much money on it but I'm sure that if you buy it you'll be glad you did. Look around at your spending habits and see what you can cut out. A lot of people would save $25-40 a week just cutting out their Starbucks habit.

@dragon54u We have the money to pay for it. I just can't bring myself to part with so much. But I really want it. It's not just up to me though. Gotta see what hubby says.

If it will not have anything to do with your contract, why don't you pick out a few of the best and most memorable pictures from the wedding and put them in frames and put them on the wall or on a table that you can see them all the time. How does that sound and then you cam save lots of money that way.
