A busy day, and a special anniversary in being exactly a year since I moved from Manchester to Preston for a complete change of lifestyle. A year free from my sister’s brooding hostility, a year of new adventures and many new friends. I had to attend a committee meeting of the film festival organizing team I’m volunteering with as we are now preparing press statements and publicity material. My new assignments are organizing bullet pointed speech prompts for welcome talk at the event launch for the mayor and vice-chancellor of the university hosting the ix-movie festival (eight if you include two additional films screening in another town, Burnley). I’ll be ushering at the events and performing my poetry at one prior to the screenings, and introducing one of the films myself too. After this very productive meeting I went to the job club, doing my daily job search quota as much to please the welfare people as to actually seek work). I spent the evening organizing the quiz questions for the film festival, and sent them to the committee chair for consideration. I phoned my mum for a chat and then I was too tired to do more. I didn’t even get to post anything on Mylot. Arthur Chappell

Nice to be away from sister I bet. I had a mean step brother for seven years. Horrible time of my life. Interesting new assignments for you. Very productive day.

@arthurchappell .......Do you ever having any tender moments with her or do you just keep your distance? Happy Anniversary. Seems like you have been having some good times since you moved.

@celticeagle no tenderness - her hostility to me is total - her husband, sons and their partners avoid talking to me too

It does not seem like a year since you moved.

Will more Royal Mail work be a possibility in the autumn?

Apart from being free of your sibling's hostility how does living in Preston compare with Manchester?

@Kandae11 A smaller city but that draws everyone together with a great sense of community which is lovely - I do miss the wider diversity of Manchester too though

@arthurchappell I know what you mean. Sometimes I miss the city for the easy availability of everything.
