Favorite Power Ballads #2 - "Still Loving You"

There is quite the divide, it seems, with this particular music countdown, my Favorite Power Ballads. Some people are digging them, while others can't stand the things. There seems no in between. Regardless, duty calls, and the #2 spot belongs to "Still Loving You" by the Scorpions. From their 1984 triple platinum album, "Still Loving You" balanced out an album full of stadium rockers. And, as is the case, both the single and it's B-Side, "Holiday," are classic Scorpions power ballads that have aged quite well all these decades later. Certified platinum in France, where it peaked at #3, the single stalled at #64 on the Billboard Hot 100. Yet, counting France, it reached Top 5 in five countries, and Top 20 in the band's native Germany. I've attached a live version of the song, because as is the case with power ballads, the live version is more powerful. Note that both lead guitarist Mathias Jabs and rhythm guitarist Rudolph Schenker handle the obligatory power ballad guitar solo's. I do love me some Scorpions (which is why they are ranked #2.) Enjoy! (Info verified by Wikipedia)

"Scorpions" yay! As for me, not a real ballads person, but some of them, esp. Power Ballads are tolerable :-)

I wish this had been recorded already when I saw them. They were an album early, though.

That one is actually not bad. My Scorpions joke is that I posted a picture of my Thera-cane on my Facebook wall one day and captioned it, "Here I am, rock you like a...."

Such a great band. I saw them in 1983, for ten bucks.

It wasn't a big hit over here, so it is possible that you missed it.

Same album as "Rock You Like a Hurricane." Just not quite as popular.
