Color of food, color of plates etc are supposed to influence our appetites.
Of course,I am not referring to adding food colors or different colored ice creams.
We are supposed to include seven different colored fruits and vegetables in our daily diet for health.
The different colored plant foods along with our meals will look attractive and appetizing when served on plates.
While preparing meals,do you give a thought to the color?

We can't always include all those different colored vegetables. But we have to make do with what we have.

That of course is impossible, unless of course we are running a five star restaurant. We can only try to include what we have with us.

@LadyDuck Yes,of course, that is the whole point of that seven colors. But it will be rather difficult for all of us to have all these different varieties handy.

@silvermist You surely know that each color means different properties for the vegetables and fruits. Blue and Purple (Eggplant, blueberries, blackberries, prunes...) are rich in antioxidants. Green are sources of vitamin K, folic acid, potassium. Red, lycopene is a powerful antioxidant that protect against heart attack... and so on. People should see what is better for them.

Color is the last thing on my mind, flavor is first.

@silvermist I don't worry about appetizing looking, I'm more concerned with cooking what I like!

Only when I am cooking vegetables or making a salad. I like to have greens mixed with reds, and yellows

Most of the time I don't, but it does bug me whenever I realize all the foods are similar in color, like chicken croquettes, mashed potatoes, corn, and corn bread.
