Solar Eclipse Today - Will You Be Watching It in Person?

Today is the much talked about solar eclipse. Not everyone will be able to see it in person because of where they live or because they don't have those special solar eclipse glasses. But is that such a big deal to see it with your own eyes? Is it a big disappointment if you don't catch it in person as it happens? I am not so sure. I live in NYC, which is not in the direct path of the solar eclipse, so mostly likely I won't get to catch it in person. I also don't have those special glasses. I wasn't going to waste money on that. I will be watching the solar eclipse as it happens live on television from the comfort of my own couch. I will try to look out the window though, so I can catch the brief total darkness during the day. There was so much hype leading up to this historic event, especially when it comes to the warnings telling us not to look at the solar eclipse directly without those solar eclipse glasses. Or the alternatives to them. I bet someone out there is swimming in riches right now from all this hype. Did you get those solar eclipse glasses? Will you be watching the solar eclipse in person? Or will you stick to the television or Internet to catch it?

@AbbyGreenhill Weird that people in Manhattan already saw it. I didn't catch anything from my house. Didn't even see it get dark. Maybe I missed it while doing stuff on computer.

We got the glasses--free--from our local library. We watched the eclipse in spurts--basically went out every few minutes to see what was going on. Being in the path of totality, it was pretty cool. We don't own a t.v.

What region do you live in that you were able to see it?

I wonder if our local library had these glasses for us...

I think it's cool but I am not so obsessed about it.
