It happened... ...my family finally joined the 21st century and bought smartphones! For the past, well, forever we've been cell-phone free. We had been content to live with our land-line phone and never understood the allure of apps and all the new-fangled gadgets that turned a common phone into something else. And then Life hit us, forced us off our stone-aged path, and slammed us onto the road of Technology. Hubby and I promised each other we wouldn't become that person. You know the one: the guy who texts his wife when she's sitting right next to him or the friends who get together only to stare into their own personal "world" during their time together (I witnessed this very event outside of a Starbucks). Yet, even with our solemn promise, I still had to remind hubby to join the land of the living when we took the kids out to dinner tonight. And now my boys are challenging each other to Fruit Ninja duels, my eldest daughter is playing a cool racing game, and hubby is stuck on Word Cookies which I, um, got him hooked on... Since we're new to this world of tech, I'd love to get some pointers on these smartphones...what's your favorite app?

We do not use smartphones. We both have cellphones that we only use to make calls if we are outside our home and only very urgent calls. I like a normal life and I have enough at home of tech gadgets.

@Genipher We have our desktop computer, a tablet and a laptop. To make calls I still prefer my landline phone. My Mom is 96 and she says she understand nothing when I use my cellphone.

@LadyDuck I didn't realize how different we would sound on the smart phones. I can hardly recognize my husband's voice!

Welcome to the app world! I only joined a few years back and it's just a very basic made in China smartphone. I don't even download any app on it...
