Have You Ever Gotten a Speeding Ticket?

There are so many people who do not obey the speed signs. Sometimes I can’t believe how the cars fly by me on the Interstate. I set my cruise control on the speed limit and cars race by me like I’m standing still. I realize that there is not enough manpower to keep the police on the highways all the time. I do see them, pulling over cars from time to time, but mostly people just totally ignore the speed limit and drive as fast as they want to. No wonder there are so many accidents and deaths on the highway. What really amazes me, is that some people who speed on the highway are afraid to fly in an airplane. If the thousands of people who are killed on the highways each year were killed in airplanes, that might make sense. But, really, think about it! Yes, when an airplane crashes, many lives are lost, BUT, it doesn’t happen very often. A person’s chances of dying in a car crash is dozens of times more likely to happen than in an airplane crash. I wonder what the percentages are? I’ll have to do some research. Personally, I have flown all over the world safely, but I’ve been involved in THREE automobile accidents, NONE of which were my fault. What do you think?

I got a speeding ticket once in my whole life and that was over 40 years ago. I got caught in a speed trap on the interstate along with a whole bunch of other people going over the speed limit. I've had a few fender benders but nothing serious.

I got caught in a speed trap about 50 years ago actually. The town had actually lowered the speed limit over night and caught a lot of people and then changed it back the next day.. From 35 to 25 and then back to 35 mph. I've never had another speeding ticket since then.

Actually the way people drive here in Riga, Latvia I am glad that I don't have a car and have to use transport or my own two feet. They're crazy here honking, speeding, holding mobiles to their ears etc. Even kind of dangerous to cross the street.

Traffic seems to be out of control, especially in big cities. I live NEAR a city, but not in the city. I only go into the city if I have to for some reason and that's not very often. Otherwise I certainly avoid it.

I don't drive but my husband has gotten one speeding ticket since he's been driving. The people here drive like they want to die, it's quite scary even as a passenger. Thank God my husband is a very cautious driver.

It's a madhouse on the highways. You never know if the driver in the next car is drunk, sleepy, a newly licensed driver or an old person who can't see and has slow reflexes among other things. You have to be a very alert driver to survive out there on the highway.

No speeding ticket....although I did get a warning.....two car accidents, neither was my fault... The first I was stopped for traffic when someone neglected to stop....the other, some one pulled out of a gas station directly into the side of my van.

Actually, I forgot about being rear-ended at a light years ago in Denver. AND I was behind some woman at the bank drive through, when she got tired of waiting at the window and backed up into the front of my car. I was filling out my deposit slip while I was waiting and didn't realize that she was backing up. I don't think I could have reacted in time even if I had been paying attention to her. She jumped out of the car and yelled at me for not blowing my horn. Can you believe that? Her insurance paid for the damage to my car.
