conversations on the bus

Being back at work affords me the opportunity to listen in to conversations again. However much I love my solitude, there is something rather intriguing about eaves-dropping.
It's not that I indulge in the activity intentionally. Usually it will be because I have little choice {someone is talking too loudly} or because I heard a word, comment or phrase which piqued my curiosity.
So, here I am on the bus again. It's silly o'clock and it's the same passengers as are always on board. They're quiet now, but the inspiration for this little mind-ramble is the conversation they had before the bus even left its first destination.
Whoa! exclaimed Geek Man, Did you see the GoT finale?
The conversation then turned into a blathering babble of noise. Geek Man and Curly Haired Woman tried to talk and explore theories whilst Lady Who Hates Being Left Out tried to join in, despite not having seen the final season. She interrupted, she screeched, she laughed, she suggested things, she talked over them ... Yesterday the conversation was North Korea. Tomorrow? Hmmm ...
She does seem like a lovely woman, but every morning I just end up screaming, Shut up!!! Shut up!!! Shut up!!! at her {in my head}. It's just too early for talking.
Honestly, mornings are not my cup of tea!

For a minute there I thought you meant me and you. I got quite panicky!

@Poppylicious I fully agree with you, when people have nothing interesting to say, they should keep their mouth closed and meditate.

Silence is definitely golden at that time of day. And most times of the day.

On a crowded bus one day I was standing next to two young girls, and I couldn't help overhearing their conversation. One was telling the other about how her boyfriend was in prison and the other was saying she was pregnant. Both girls were rather shabbily dressed and actually had dirt around their necks (and presumably elsewhere under their clothes!) I wished I could tell them/ inspire them somehow to have some more self-respect, clean themselves up and look for something better in life than a jailbird boyfriend!
