I remember that this was one song that made me sad when September rolled around. Why? Because in this song Rod Stewart sings, “It’s late September and I really should be back at school” and it reminded me that summer was really over and it really was time for school again. Rod Stewart is a really talented singer and his songs are enjoyed by many. Altogether he has around a three dozen pop hits and close on to 40 million albums. One of his greatest rock hits is “Maggie May” which became a number one hit on October 2, 1971.
“Maggie May” became an international hit topping the U.S. and U.K. pop charts. It was actually added as a last-minute addition to Stewart’s album Every Picture Tells a Story and was originally released as the B-side to the single “Reason to Believe”. The song became a hit also due to the incredible music with acoustic guitar and mandolin arrangement. The album and the song really launched Stewart’s solo career. Two more hits went number one “Tonight’s the Night (Gonna Be Alright)” in 1977 and “Da Ya Think I’m Sexy” in 1979. Rod Stewart continues on with his incredible career which has brought him great success for five decades.
Among his other greatest hits are “Sailing”, “The First Cut is the Deepest”, “I Don’t Want to Talk About It” and “I Was Only Joking.
Who’s a Rod Stewart fan?
