I just want few minutes of your time.

The first quarter in the school was over and just like the other times, many students did not even hit the average grade on their periodical test. Some of them were really a headache. I sent a conference letter to the parents of the naughty and lazy ones but only few parents responded to my invitation. So, I just decided to contact them through their mobile phones. Again, only few replied from my text messages. I hope that these parents will have a time to spend for their kid's education. It is disheartening to see kids going to school without the goal to study.

because there are parents who rely on teachers for everything. they even blame teachers for everything. it's like the moment their children start grade 1, they've handed all responsibilties to the school, which is just wrong. that's why i salute teachers because for most teachers, it's not just a job. you really care for the students yet you get taken advantage of.

@hereandthere I agree with you. Some parents keep on working hard because they want to give their kids a good future. However, they tend to forget that its not only the materials things that their kids need but also their time.

@JudyEv and you can now see that unruly/disrespectful/inconsiderate behavior everywhere, even in shared public spaces like streets, public transportation, at the supermarket, in the mall, at restaurants, and the parents never even say anything to make them behave. or worse, they'll fight right then and there as if they're at home.

What you say is very true, Some kids are quite feral when they start school and it seems like the teacher is supposed to teach them everything.

That is so sad. If the parents aren't willing to sit with you and discuss their children's education, there is nothing more you can do. If they get enough failing marks, maybe their parents will take notice and do something.

@just4him I hope so. There is one student here who reached Grade 7 but does not know how to read. I spent an hour before with her, extending an assistance for her reading skills. Unfortunately, the child was most of the times absent. That was what happened for 2 years. And now, she is enrolled again for Grade 7 and she still has the same attitude. I kept on telling her that I need to talk to her guardian but she always says that her guardian is always busy.

@just4him Actually, I met her guardian the first time she enrolled. I let her read in front of her guardian and in front of them, they witnessed that the kid does not know how to read. I asked how come she graduated from elementary and the guardian just gave a malicious smile.

@annierose Sounds like you need to go through the guardian not the student. She might not want her guardian to know she's not doing well in school and might be giving an excuse that he's busy.

Some parents just don't seem interested in their children's education.

Those parents should know that education is their children's future, why don't they care about it?!

@gullver I don't know if I can answer it reasonably. I am not a parent yet.

@ilocosboy Yes, we have parents like that. We don't know if we will pity those kinds or just get upset.

And it shows in their child's attitude. If a child is lazy or not interested in studying simply because the parents are not interested as well.

@m_audrey6788 I am thinking if it is too much of a burden to spend time for their kids?

Are you a teacher too? I disappointed with my tutee too. She get more mistakes than correct answers. She is really a slow learner. I can't blame her brain. I just hope I can do something this second quarter

@averygirl72 Yes, I am a teacher. I have many students like that. I don't want them to be promoted to a higher level without learning anything.

i agree with you. oftentimes, i see my students having those quite expensive pieces of mobile phones that i ask them if what their parents tell them so they get the prize of the latest phones. they say as long as they reach the grade of 80%, which for me shouldn't be. if i wee a parent, i want my child to have the grade of 85 or 86% so they will study harder.
