Meds and Horse Urine

On the news last night they were talking about the fact that women taking estrogen replacement drugs were 'not' in danger of getting breast cancer. Well, that's just junky-dory, but that's not my main concern for the use of Premarin or Prempro. What is, is the fact of what is used in the drugs and how they are acquired. 750,000 mares are impregnated just to get the urine that is used in these drugs. And do you know what happens to the foals that are born as the result? Either they are slaughtered for horse meat and dog food, OR some of the females are kept to replace the mares who are too tired to stand after giving so many births. Now there is a new drug called Cenestin for hot flashes and night sweats that are made from plant sources. If you have to make a choice and can't 'suck it up', at least go with that one.

Sorry about that @amadeo . I appreciate you stopping by anyway. Since you've learned this info, you can pass it along to any females you know who take this stuff.

@nanette64 I always check online when a doctor prescribes something, if I am against I go back and ask to change.

I agree @LadyDuck and more people who take meds, for whatever reason, should ask a pharmacist (who would definitely know) what is in the meds that they are taking.

Yes meds using plant sources sound like the way to go and leave the poor horses alone.

Science doesn't care about animals, just what they can be used for.

It really upsets me that a lot of animals are used for experimentation @just4him .

@just4him If they're gonna do experimentation, use the crooks in jails and prisons.

Women should not use such HRT derived from such cruel process! I pity the horses!

That is really sad. =( I rarely take meds for anything I have so I highly doubt I will start when menopause hits. I would never take the ones that hurt horses though-that's awful!
