Favorite "Strange" Songs #1 - "Strangelove"

Yes, it's yet another Depeche Mode appearance in one of my music countdowns. In fact, in this case, they are #1 in my Favorite "Strange" Songs series, which is songs with "Strange," or a variation, in the title: in this case, it's "Strangelove."
"Strangelove" was the first single released from the band's 1987 platinum album, Music for the Masses. The song was originally a busy, upbeat pop tune that both the band and producer felt did not fit in with the rest of the album, so it was slowed down and darkened up a little.
And while the single stalled at #50 on the Billboard Hot 100, it reached #1 on that magazine's Hot Dance Club Play chart, the first of nine #1's on that particular chart. It also made it to #16 in the UK, but check this out: it was an international hit, making the Top 5 in seven countries, and, counting the US and the UK, charting in a total of 17 countries.
I did not link to the official video because it was fairly heavily edited, and I've always liked the album version best.
Enjoy!

It is amazing how different the album versions can be from the radio cuts

Not big on electronic music. Although I did like a couple of Thomson Twins, Human League, and Flock of Seagulls songs. Don't know if they qualify?

It's one of their best, which says something considering how many great songs they've made.
