I told my son that I was sharing some of the odd facts that he was sending me on e-mail, by posting the information on mylot. So, he sent me some more.
I chose just a couple that I thought were the most interesting.
“Peter the Great, the czar of Russia was beloved by his soldiers and he was devoted to those who served him. Devoted to the point of dying for them, it turns out. When he was fifty-three years old, he jumped from his horse into an icy river to rescue drowning soldiers. He got hypothermia and died.”
This piece of trivia, I thought was very interesting. “Dr. Seuss, probably one of the greatest children’s book writers of all time, did not care to have children around his house. He was known to have said, “You raise them, I’ll entertain them.”
The fact is that he married a divorced woman who had to young daughters and he convinced his wife to send them off to boarding school so he wouldn’t have them in his house, while he was trying to write books for young children.”
Again I haven’t researched either one of these “facts” yet, but I’m fairly sure that my son did.
