Down the Little Creek Way...

Looking towards "Little Creek"
United States

There is a park in the neighborhood I live in that is affectionately dubbed "The Rec." This neighborhood began its journey sometime in the 1970's, atleast as far as I am aware. The park has seen many basketball games, baseball games, and tennis matches. It has hosted many bbq's and family gatherings. It has endured the wheels of many bicycles, and the shoes of many runners. I used to go down a path in the back of the park that ran across The Creek that the park is known for, but it has been many years since I have traveled down it. I would not be surprised if the path is overgrown now. There is another path, one that may have been there for many years as well, but that I don't recall ever going down until today. There is much to see there, with it giving you a sense of being removed from the hustle and bustle of suburban life. The path forks two ways. Go towards the left and you head towards the road that the Mall is on. If you go right you will travel down to another set of forks. I haven't ventured there myself, but I've seen on google maps that it deads in on one fork, and goes clear to another neighborhood on another. I plan to travel down it as well, but perhaps not until it gets a little cooler. *Pictured is one of the bridges that I went across*

I love those park adventures . . . if you've never been or haven't been in a long time, you just never know what you might see. A couple weekends ago Hubby and I took the kids to a park that had just reopened . . . it was closed down for over a decade. Hubby and I used to go hiking there with friends eons ago . . . but oh, they cleaned it up and put new landscaping in - familiar but unfamiliar. We used to go up to the railroad tracks and tunnels . . . but looks like they fenced it off (a lot of places actually) and no one can get through it so easily anymore. Anyway, hope you get to enjoy going down those paths soon!

Oh that is annoying. I would have loved to explore the tracks. I did that years ago with some friends but a park employee caught us and forced us out. Glad they reopened your park but a pity they do not have all areas available.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Beyond this particular park are mountains and mountains . . . with caution signs about snakes and mountain lions . . . it's always been that way and tons of us have hiked it in the past. But now there are more fences with no trespassing signs - a lot of places are now off limits. But I will say there seems to be a lot more trash, graffiti and that sort of thing . . . seems like folks have taken advantage of the freedom we had and thrashed it. What a shame.
