Sept 26- Penguin drawing

Yesterday, my son came back from school , told me that he lied to his teacher that he didn't bring his art supplies which he did. I asked him why. He said that he doesn't like art lessons because he doesn't know how to draw nor color. Furthermore, his classmates always laughed at his "lousy" drawings. I know that kind of feelings. When I was in school, I was frequently laughed at. Even my Art teacher snickered and mocked my drawings. So, I taught my son how to draw penguins. He realized that drawing isn't difficult if you imagine with creativity. Penguin is alike a peanut shell, I told him that. Just add in the eyes, flippers and a triangle beak, the penguin is done. Kids really need confidence and guidance, not mockery or sarcastic remarks from the teachers or classmates. Don't you think so? My photo, penguin drawn by peachpurple

I fully agree, the wrong attitude of a teacher does not help at all. I hated to go to primary school because of the teacher I had.

@peachpurple It's not a nice attitude, in our days I know they could not do something like this.

Making fun of children's efforts are uncalled for. Teachers should not be part of the problem, and it's shameful when they are.

yes I agree with you but then teachers aren't changing either, nor the kids , what in the world is happening to teaching?

Teachers should be encouraging kids not mocking them or allowing others to mock them. My friends son used to have a book on how to draw animals and cartoon characters. It was based on the same idea as your penguin. Start with a circle or a oval etc then built up to adding all the details in easy steps. Something like that could maybe boost your sons confidence!

problem is Malaysia school teachers do mock students drawing and exam results, furthermore they allow other classmates to do so. That is so frustrating

@peachpurple That is a horrible way to teach!! If a teacher mocked me my response would be " of course I'm useless you taught me"

Unfortunately teachers and fellow students don't realize that they are hurting them and in turn they loose their confidence.. that's really sad.

kids need to be confident, Parents and teachers should build this confidence in them. We should keep on motivating them ,than criticizing them. After all they are kids, we should not break their self confidence ,and let them down...
