The national bird of Latvia is the balta cielava or white wagtail. This is a slender and graceful bird that can be seen all around the country from April to October. Mostly the bird makes its home around settlements and different bodies of water. I have seen this bird in my garden from time to time. Wagtails migrate to winter in southern Europe and North Africa. The White Bird Watch was approved by the International Bird Protection Council in Tokyo, Japan in 1960 for the Latvian national bird. Have you ever seen a wagtail?

Heard about wagtails. How interesting. It appears as though there are a lot of nature lovers around. Blessed aren't we all?

This is a pretty little bird. We have wagtails here but they don't look quite the same.
