I Wished I Could Just Slap the Doctor and Leave

I seldom see doctors because I've been gifted with good health. But the other week, after working in my garden, I noticed my hands were itching and could not help scratching. I could not figure out what insect bit me and even if I applied vinegar, alcohol and ointment, the itching kept recurring.
I was scared it might get worse if infected so I went to see a dermatologist. Her clinic hours was supposed to be 3:00 to 5:00 pm but she did not come on time. All the patients were already weary and bored before she finally came at 4:48 PM and she did not even say sorry.
I wished I could just slap her and leave but thank God, I was able to hold my peace. Could you tolerate this kind of doctor?

My goodness, I wish she was not allowed to do this!!
Terrible to keep you and everyone waiting like this..I mean it is not as if she is a surgeon!!!
Did she even help you with the itch?
Or know what it was? So sorry this happened to you.

If she had an emergency case then yes but just being late no, that is inexcusable.

@hereandthere Yes, and would you believe this doctor is from a public hospital so I only paid for the meds and no doctor/s fee while the first doctor is from private hospital so I used my health card.

@salonga at least you "discovered" a competent dermatologist should you need one again in the future.

I wish they tell exactly what time they could make it instead of making the patients wait. Her medical secretary could not even tell us the reason why she was so late.

That must be upsetting. It happened to me once but I later found out that the doctor had to attend to an emergency operation, but at least she apologized afterwards.

@salonga Yeah that was insensitive. People could have had other plans.

She did not even tell why she was so late. It was as if she was entitled to let us wait as long as she desires. and we deserve no apologies.

maybe the doctor had many patients in other hospitals but yes, she should have apologized for her behavior. you are human beings and you should be treated well.

O, you forgot the so-called Filipino Time! Always late! hahahaha. . Not here in Canada. In fact, it is the other way around. If you are a patient and you are scheduled for physical check up (I had my physical check up last week), you better show up on time; otherwise being late is considered you did not show up . . you will be charged for $50.

@salonga Doctors are never late here in Canada. O, well, that is what I observe. In fact, doctors expect their patients to be 15 minutes early for appointment. For my physical check up appointments, I always go early because I am excited . . . why? Our family doctor is a pretty lady . . And physical check up is, you know, your doctor checks every nooks of your body. hehehehe, . . I am just kidding.

These kind of medical doctors think they are the very important person in the Philippines, and there's so many of them. Its a sad thing in our country but its really happening.

I heard this bad habit of doctors is common even in other countries so it is becoming epidemic and deadly as they will cause patients to die before they arrive.

Their oath is what they forgot, the money and their thinking they are VIP is what they live.
