Favorite Soundtrack Albums #6 - Pretty in Pink

Here we are at #6 in this particular music series, which focuses not on specific songs or bands, rather, it is a countdown of my favorite soundtrack albums. The 6th spot belongs to Pretty in Pink.
The late director John Hughes was known for using alternative music in his films, with Pretty in Pink being possibly his best soundtrack.
Many of the songs on the record were recorded specifically for the movie. The Psychedelic Furs' title track, for instance, was rerecorded for the film. Other heavy hitters include Echo and the Bunnymen, New Order, The Smiths, and Orchestral Manoeuvers in the Dark, who took their song "If You Leave" to #4 on the Billboard Hot 100. Throw in songs by the likes of Suzanne Vega and Joe Jackson, INXS, and Belouis Some, and you have one hell of a soundtrack.
I've linked to "Pretty in Pink," which, along with the Psychedelic Furs, features scenes from the movie.
Enjoy!

I remember that song and movie. Just listening to it and seeing the video, brings back the 80s in full force.

The Psychedelic Furs did "Pretty in Pink" both times I've seen them. It was awesome each time.

Good soundtrack and the movie was decent too. John Hughes had some other decent films about teens with Sixteen Candles and the Breakfast Club also starring Molly Ringwald. Guess she was movie chemistry for him

@teamfreak16 Definitely, along with "Ferris Bueller's Day Off." Which I forgot to mention... Bueller, Bueller!

I love "Solitude Standing" most. And that song she did with the Smithereens. And Luka.
