Several months after closing its revenue system, Niume will be closing down on Monday, October 2nd. The website only paid out for a short while and curtailed its payment program back in June, citing lack of advertising revenue. They had added buttons that allowed readers to "tip" authors, but not much came of that (nothing to me, anyway). It wasn't difficult to see the writing on the wall that Niume would inevitably close once they stopped paying, but of course one always has hope. I would suggest that any of you who have articles on the site scoop them up NOW. Use the download button, or copy/paste into your own document, as I did ( I didn't have many articles, so that was easy enough). Also, make sure to DELETE your content. When Associated Content/Yahoo Voices shut down, our articles got stolen by a "scraper" that copied all the content from the site. The content was then sold to plagiarizer websites that use it to garner ad revenue for themselves, with no payment--or even credit--to the original authors. These sites are usually Chinese and notoriously difficult to go after for plagiarism. Most of the time, it's impossible to even CONTACT them. So it's in your best interest to get your stuff off the site as quickly as possible. Don't get scraped!

I never joined this site. It's still a shame that it's closing down though.

@AliCanary It really isn't. We need more of them, not fewer.

Yes, fewer sites that give writers freedom is never a happy thing.

I never joined there. That is crazy how plagiarizers are, copying and stealing peoples work.

Well, in a day or two, it's going to be gone, so go look:

I was there for a while but kept copies of all my stuff. I didn't have enough sense to delete my articles but there were very few of them anyway,

That's a nice advice for those who write in that site. The good news, we'll be more here.
