We can find the real light only at the end of our own dark tunnel

We must find truth from within our own darkness for it to be real to us

"Every man fights his way through other men’s words to find his own truth." This is a Zen Buddhism saying. At my first reading of that that saying, I thought that it seemed to miss the point of truth. Is our own truth even ever in anyone else's words? And yet truth is in all things, but when you fight against it, you also remove yourself from it, and then you see that something other than the real truth has settled in you then. This you must cross over, and push past to see that real truth is your own version of it, only when it aligns you to the truth that is real. If this alignment is not taking place, you are living from the words of truth only, a false version of it to be sure. The words point us towards the truth, but in the end, they only ever remain just that, words, but if we struggle to reach past the mere words, we will always find that the real truth is always behind their form. The light at the end of the tunnel is not the truth itself, but it does allow us to see the truth from our darkness. And yet that light is love, and love always contains the truth within itself. We must shine from that love within us, to move ourselves past any darkness. Then we will see the truth, that is not so much hidden in love, but only there for us to see, when we are living from the light of God's love, shining fully within us, being us for him then too. There is light in darkness, but no darkness within light. Is this idea true? As there is no fear in perfect love, there is no darkness in perfect light, but the light is still within every darkness. There is no perfect darkness that can blot out all light. "There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear." That's a quote from the Christian bible from its book of 1 John, chapter 4, verse 18.

The dark tunnel seems like one's experiences of life from which one finally finds the truth of what one is looking for.

Yes, a lot of people have mentioned this darkness, and the need for us to go through it. I have heard it called the, "dark night of our soul". "You necessarily have to be lost, before you’re found." That's a quote from T. Scott McLeod, from his book, "All That Is Unspoken."

Yes, I think that is generally true, unless we hold onto the darkness within our own selves, very stubbornly, and so refuse to see the light that is always there for us to see.

Thanks. We all have to shine our own light, but we must realise also that every light comes from God's light. We only live in darkness when we do not shine forth with our own light, living from our own truths, as the real us, being true to our self.

We should pursue truth with love and look for enlightenment within but taking in the outside sights as they too lend meaning to our experiences here. It is a sublime blend of what is within and the outside sights and experiences. We need to pursue our own path and if we try only to please others then we lose track of truth and love. We need fear nothing when truth is our objective led to it with efforts spurred by love - siva

You make some good points there siva. We should not just rely solely on our higher self to live our lives for us, as it is harder for us to stand on our own two feet then, when we need too. We might find it hard to think on our own then also. Is this good or bad though? Should we allow God to act through us continually, living in us as a prayer on a wing, or should we do some things on our own too? If we are just solely merely only God's pawn, what is the point of our existence here, in our being here seemingly independently anyway? A car is itself, and it has a driver, and usually a mechanic to keep it going well too. We need to think of our body as the car, our mind as the driver, and our soul as the mechanic, but God in this picture is everything, as he created it all, and so the car must be the car, the driver the driver, and the mechanic the mechanic. Each part must fulfil its own role.

@innertalks Good analogy Steve. God is the unseen co-passenger in our lives guiding us along, keeping us rooted to reality and the possibilities. Yes, there is no absolute darkness; even when we close our eyes we see the light, sometimes more clearly! When god is omnipresent what is there to fear, but then our thoughts and actions should be honorable, then our ride is not onerous - siva
