New York Mets manager Terry Collins has decided to step down as the manager of the team after the conclusion of the Mets final game of the 2017 Major League Baseball season versus the Philadelphia Phillies.
Collins managed the Mets from 2010 through the 2017 Major League Baseball season leading the Mets to a berth in the 2015 World Series losing to the Kansas City Royals.
However with the Mets finishing the 2017 baseball season in fourth place in the National League East standings out of five teams, he decided to step down as the manager of the Mets and now will be working with the Mets front office in 2018.

It's a good move on his part. At his age, with the stress of managing in NY, it will better health wise for him. He had a great run in NY. They made some playoffs, reached the series as you said, and proved himself a good manager after his initial failure in Houston.

Terry wanted to leave the managers post since he is getting too old and he wants to spend more time with his relatives about this time.

@Deepizzaguy Well, can't blame him for that, and he still will be involved with baseball and the Mets.

@dgobucks226 At least Terry will be working with the Wilpons who are the owners of the team in the front office overseeing the talented players blossom.

I agree with DB, it's a good move for him to walk away while he can.
Now, if someone could only get that hapless manager of the hapless Reds to do the same.....

@Deepizzaguy — unfortunately, they announced at the end of August they were keeping him. His losing percentage is higher than some managers’ WINNING percentage, and they won’t fire him!

That's a surprise. You can't blame the Mets bad year on him.
