Favorite Soundtrack Albums #1 - The Crow

It's time to put yet another music series (this is my 71st) to bed, as we have reached #1 in my Favorite Soundtrack Albums countdown: The Crow. How popular was 1994's soundtrack for the movie The Crow? It reached #1 on the Billboard 200 chart, and has been certified triple platinum. The album itself is made up of a nice mix of covers, rerecordings, and original songs. While Nine Inch Nails' cover of Joy Division's "Dead Souls" is probably the most famous cover from the soundtrack, Pantera and the Rollins Band also contributed covers (by Poison Idea and Suicide, respectively.) Rage Against the Machine and Medicine both redid their own material for the film (as did Stone Temple Pilots, who remade a demo called "Only Dying," which was replaced by "Big Empty" after star Brandon Lee died on the set.) Written specifically for the film, The Cure's "Burn" is possibly the most well known of the lot (despite it's popularity, the band has never played the song live,) but there are some other gems on here as well, including tunes from the Jesus and Mary Chain, Machines of Loving Grace, Violent Femmes, Jane Siberry, and My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult, who appear in the movie (they are the band playing downstairs in the club during the big gun battle.) It's the perfect dark soundtrack for what was a very dark movie. (Info verified by Wikipedia)
A music video for "The Crow" fans everywhere! Edited by little ol me....with love and care x A tribute to Brandon...

It was a pretty cool movie and I am not the biggest fan of such movies because seem typical, but have to say this one was different and sad sequels does what a lot of what Hollywood does copy. This is what they say in music as ground breaking.

@crossbones27 - The second one was ok, the one with Tara Reid was awful, but the first was awesome.

This sounds great--I will have to check it out! They put a White Zombie remake of the KC and the Sunshine Band song "Boogie Man" on the second Crow movie soundtrack that I absolutely love.

Great movie with an even greater OST. Brandon Lee would have been a big star if not for his untimely and early demise.

@teamfreak16 Indeed, it looked like they actually gave a crap and always something to be said about that in this day in age where no one seems to give a crap about anything.

Very dark. That Femmes song is quite dark. Understandable that you'd love it so much. Great series!
