Tom Petty has died? How did I miss that?

I just read that to Petty died a couple of days ago. He was born in 1950, so that makes him 66 or 67 years old. Tom Petty was an icon among American rockers. He managed to sound rebellious and warm and friendly at the same time. I saw him live twice, and they were among the best rock concerts I've been to. Did you follow Tom Petty? Are you as shocked as I am to heard of his passing? I wonder what killed him. The one news story I read said "cardiac arrest." If you have a favorite Tom Petty song, please leave a link in the Comments. I have a feeling I'm going to be listening to a lot of his music over the next few days. He belongs among the wildflowers.

It came as a shock to many. Sad that this wonderfully talented soul has left us so soon.

@TheHorse I thought it was misinformation. Wasn't until the next day that I fully accepted it as truth.

I really didn't expect it. He was about the same age as Richard Thompson, who is also still going strong.

It was very sad to hear he had passed away, at first I saw an article about him suffering a heart attack and then another where the family decided to withdraw life support. He was one of the top guitarists in the world and I will miss him a lot.

My favorite:
"Louisiana Rain" was written by Tom Petty and appears as the final track on Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers' breakthrough album Damn the Torpedoes.

Seems like he was a good person too. He had a good "vibe" as we used to say back in the day.

Hm, oh yes unfortunately it did happen. I think it sort of got covered up by the Las Vegas shooting. Earlier in the day while he was on life support they reported he had passed... but then he did pass later in the day. It's a shame. I liked a lot of his songs.
