My niece's notebook adapter isn't working. She came to my house to test it out. She tried to use the adapter to charge the battery but the power did not flow in, there wasn't any light on the adapter. I don't have the same output power notebook adapter as hers. So, I suggested that she should either look for the same power adapter online or make phone calls to local notebook accessories shop for the same model. The price as similar but if buy online, there is 30% off if she use the voucher. The only problem is she has to wait for a few days without a notebook if she orders online. Would you buy online or buy from he local shop instead?

It happened to my laptop power adapter a few years ago, and I bought a general power adapter working on several brands of laptops (the socket can be changed, according to the brand) locally. I have still it and it can be useful in case I would have another failure with another adapter. 30% is interesting if the adapter is expensive. If it is cheap I would buy one locally, an item coming from China taking 3 to 4 weeks to reach France.

@cacay1 Yes, they are supposed to last longer than laptops. Mine was victim of an overvoltage that killed all adapters connected at this moment. The circuit breaker did not worked.

@sabtraversa My ISP sends me a text message before each thunderstorm asking me to disconnect the internet/tv box, I suppose they have good reasons to do it. I had never had this kind of accident before, and I do not disconnect the box during thunderstorms.

Anything that needs to be available immediately and is already available I buy it locally. If not available locally or is not urgent I buy online.

How worried and how much money you have I suppose. Tight on money and if a pretty big concern would go to the store. If not, trust the powers at be.

I think I prefer to buy in local shops. It would be safer to have a good quality of products.

@cacay1 I agree. It is better to know for real than waiting for the possible quality of products online.

Here the online order delivery is very fast. An online store called JD can even deliver the goods to you within a day. I am quite satisfied with it. Therefore, I may buy it online as it is much more expensive to buy something like this from a local store.

I'd rather see it actual, I don't want to wait for days but still it won't work to my laptop. It is different when we talk about hardware that will affects lots of job... I mean my laptop is what I use to gain money... So I want to do the traditional thing when things breaks.

It depends how much in a hurry I am. If I need the adapter and it's available in the shop, I would buy it immediately there.

Oh what a coincidence, I just bought a laptop adapter yesterday at a local shop. I didn't have the time to check prices online honestly, because I needed it fast. Did she buy it already?

It is better if you buy at a shop, it is a lot easier to take it back and also the computer won't fry like mine did. I got a charger off ebay for my macbook pro, same model, same everything, but faulty wiring I am guessing.

@peachpurple At least i trust something i see. Here in our country its so risky buying things online before seeing them there are high chances of them being fake.
