Did you Ever Enjoy Doing Wordles?

Wordles used to be a word cloud program that was found online at wordle.net. But with some of the previous upgrades on chrome it became unsafe to use even before the demise of bubblews. It's something that I'd not thought about in quite a while, but when thinking of my survey post which is no more, I didn't want to take the time to search out an image on pixabay and thought to search to see if an app was available on my smartphone. I'm happy to say that a free one is available for any and all. With the old program if you wanted certain words larger than others you put it down more than once. For the app, it decided on it's own which sections or words or phrases would be larger. If you'd done wordles before you may want to check it out. I discovered that after making one I need to save it first and then upload it to the gallery on my phone. Then I went hunting for it after connecting my phone to my computer but it's not where I find my other images. Well, maybe that isn't true. But I normally look under DCIM like I would with my camera. When I looked there the first time I wasn't able to find the wordles I made. I looked again at all the files and found the gallery icon and got it that way. The original file is saved in a png format. I use the paint program to then save it to jpeg which is what you need to post it here and most other places. Once I have it saved in a normal image format I will copy and paste it to a folder on my computer. It takes a bit of work, but it seems a bit easier than keeping the link to a photo for later use.

I wonder if they have a mobile version. There's a thing on Facebook that does something similar

That is what I found, a mobile app for doing a wordle and it's free. I have an android phone, I'd think they'd have it for any style phone, but not sure about that yet.

Have you ever seen the word cloud images displayed on the net or elsewhere? Some teaching institutions use them. In fact, I found there are many other programs to help students come up with such pictures to help their creativity and working with words.

@responsiveme I made this one to look like a conversation blurb, yes, but they can have many shapes. If you use the app I have there are new shapes just introduced other than the simpler ones like on my previous post to this one.

@MarshaMusselman For the moment I do not use a smartphone, I have also a tablet, but I do not like it. I use my computer desktop (or my laptop) all the time.

I used it years ago when writing on bubblews, but in the years since then, Chrome change something in their coding which made using the wordle site unstable and it didn't work any longer. The mobile app version isn't quite as versatile as the computer version was, but it will do.

So that's what it called! I've seen this a lot but never knew it's called wordles. Looks pretty cool as a notepad cover!

@MarshaMusselman Interesting! I remember first seeing it on a banner or poster somewhere, and I thought it was pretty cool.

@cahaya1983 It wasn't until I began making them, a few years back, that I then began seeing them more places. our local college uses them on their logo as does other businesses.

I don't know that it's called wordles. I think it's better known as word clouds, but I call them wordles. I just checked and it is known as wordles although that isn't the only company or program that puts them together.
The details about the following nine word cloud generators will give you a fair idea how, as an educator, you can get the best out of them.

© 2017 Marsha Musselman. fun with wordles using the leaf shape
It's kind of fun to see what the program comes up with and the deciding whether you want to put it into a ready made picture type thing or not. For instance here's another one using the same words, but a different shape.

I really like what you have made with the app. I was wondering how you did that and even commented on it in your previous post about sloppy joes. Thanks for the info.

I'm sure you've seen those types of images before, though, Marie? Several of us used it when writing at bubblews. I'd not looked it up much since since I didn't have a smarphone until recently. None of the browsers have supported or allowed it in recent years.

Thank you for sharing about Worldes. I did go to my apps store but it didn't bring up anything. Maybe I'm doing it wrong? I just realized I typed it in wrong. I typed in worlde and its supposed to be wordle, so I did find it. If you like word games you may want to check out wordchums, you can play Scrabble like games with people from all over the world. Just go to your apps store and type wordchums in and down load it. God bless you my sister!

I'm so un-savvy to all this I just glaze over as I wouldn't know how to do this and need to take a course! ha! I still use Pixabay but am hoping to use more of my own pics in the future.

If you have a smartphone, the program or app does the work for you. You just fill in which words you want to use and it arranges everything for you in different ways. I just took the liberty of making one up for you using your various names that I'm familiar with. You have my permission to use this, or I can edit it with words/names you'd like on it, different colors and in different shapes
