Favorite Industrial Songs #5 - "Da Ya Think I'm Sexy?"

Here we are, already, at #5 in my Favorite Industrial Songs series, in which I am counting down my favorite tunes from the genre. The midpoint spot belongs to RevCo, with their cover of "Da Ya Think I'm Sexy?" RevCo, as the Revolting (rhymes with "Socks") are also known, are an industrial supergroup that has, at times, featured industrial legends such as Al Jourgensen and Paul Barker (Ministry,) Chris Connelly, Luc Van Acker, and Richard 23 (Front 242.) From their 1993 album, Linger Ficken Good...and other barnyard oddities, "Da Ya Think I'm Sexy?" is the band's cover of Rod Stewart's disco smash, and frankly, their fuzzy, funky version is a hell of a lot more fun than Stewart's original. My favorite industrial vocalist, Chris Connelly, and Al Jourgensen (affectionately called "Uncle Al" by fans) share vocal duties here. The song was released as a single, and despite airplay on alternative radio (which is where I first heard it,) I can't find any evidence of it charting anywhere. I refrained from linking to the official video, which is set in a strip club. But you still need to hear it, for this version is hilarious. Enjoy! (Info verified by Wikipedia)

It was a huge hit. Stewart donated the profits to UNICEF.

I much prefer this, but Rod's version is classic disco.

@teamfreak16 I listened, but ol' raspy voice has my vote on this one.

That's an interesting show. I've seen it a few times. I hope you like the song. It's a bit different from the original.

I hated it when Rod sold out and did disco. A great rock n' roll voice gone awry. Do Ya Think I'm Sexy vs Maggie Mae? Come on Man

And yet, it's a classic disco tune.

@teamfreak16 That's fair. The critics liked it. Although disco is not my scene man, I always liked "Super Freak" it was kind of funk/disco just really freaky

I know you love this, you ranked it very highly on your favorite covers list. Infinitely better than Rod's version. BTW, is it me, or does that opening organ riff sound more than a little like "Dirty Laundry"?

Most definitely. Chris Connelly's sing-speak vocals are much more fun.
