How Do You Explain This?

As you probably know, we re-decorated our master bedroom. The first time since the house was built in the 70's. My daughter and I spent a break between her two jobs at a Bed Bath & Beyond looking for curtains. We found gray panel grommet panels for the window (2 pack), and gold, white and gray grommet panels for the closets (2 per closet, 2 packs). When we got around to hanging them we found that two panels were not enough for our bedroom window, nor were they very darkening. I knew that we had bought the only package at the store so I looked on the BB&B website but I couldn't really tell if they were the same curtains because there was no description of size and the website had misspelled the name Camryn as Camyrn. So I called the number on the Canadian website which led me to the office in the U.S. The gentleman I spoke to said they had them in stock and apologized for the misspelling on the website. We were just about to place the order when I said, "Wait, I'm going to be charged U.S. dollars, right?" (The price was the same). So he looked for a store in Canada that had the product in stock. I gave him the UPC code just to be sure I had the exact sets I wanted. A store in Edmonton had 7 packages in stock. He said he would get the manager of the store to call me. So the store manager calls and we make arrangements for them to ship the two packages to me and I gave her my credit card number and mailing address. Problem here is that I was purchasing directly from a store that doesn't usually mail out orders. This was on September 28th. My recent look at my bank statement showed that I was charged for the items at store #200 in Edmonton, Alberta. When I called the number on the website I was told that their store numbers had 4 digits. Then I remembered that the store had called ME so I looked at my "recents" on my cell phone and saw the Edmonton number and phoned the store. I asked to speak to the manager. A woman identified herself as Catherine. I was pretty sure by name and voice that was who I spoke with but she didn't know what I was talking about. The store has 6 managers apparently so another manager called me back after having spoken to all but one manager. Now here is where it gets weird. He hadn't spoken to Juanita yet. I said I was pretty sure it wasn't Juanita I spoke to. I believed it was Catherine. But Catherine wasn't working that day. Lori and Juanita were. He found a record of the purchase, on a card, indicating an in-store purchase using a credit card chip. Now that's pretty dang impossible since I ordered over the phone and I am 3 provinces away. I asked him how many he had in stock right now and he said 5, which means that the two sold were the two that I purchased. My whole purpose for calling was to find out the status of my delivery because, having been done over the phone through a store, I received no email, no order number, and they don't have a shipping tracking number. We don't know what the heck happened. How is it possible that my credit card was charged (it's on my statement), but the store has a record of it being purchased with a credit card chip. I told him if I haven't received the curtains in a week I would ask that they be shipped again. He said he would put two aside but hoped it wouldn't take a week. In the meantime he is still trying to figure out what the heck happened. Is that crazy, or what? Oh, if you ever order over the phone, make sure you get all the pertinent information including the name of the person and a receipt number.

Noted, thanks! That is bizarre about the chip deal. Makes me feel like having all these chips on our cards are not more secure.

No explanation. The manager is shipping out two more packets for me. If I get the other ones i can do whatever I want with them. I offered to return them to a store near me but we might use them for another room.

He has set two more sets aside in the event that the first set doesn't arrive. He will personally ship them out. Hopefully it doesn't come to that.
