Diary 9th To 11th October 2017

Diary Monday 9th October 2017 A phone call from my mum notified me of the death of an old family friend, which is very sad, though my mum now has a new pet cat, a two year old black cat called Shadow. I’ll get to see it when I visit before Christmas. Tonight marks the beginning of the film festival I have helped organize in Preston. We set up a tombola stall and various information booths in the foyer. The tombola was very successful. The opening free movie was Extremely Loud And Incredibly Close, which I have reviewed on here already. In working the tombola I missed the opening speeches by the Mayor and university chancellors which I wanted to see as I wrote their bullet pointed notes for them. Diary Tuesday 10th October 2017 The second day of the festival saw the screening of political protest movie I Daniel Blake, reviewed previously by me. I helped set up the tombola but then I got to perform my poem and present the film to the audience which was great to do and well received. Diary Wednesday 11th October 2017 Day three of the festival featured two screenings, as we had a matinee showing of Trolls, in a special children’s matinee presentation and after a short return home I returned to help out with the evening screening, A Monster Calls. I was particularly keen to see how well this was received as it was my own main recommendation to the festival committee. Referencing Matinee movies gives me an excuse to include this Youtube of the Matinee song by Franz Ferdinand. Arthur Chappell

@Kandae11 Tombola is a kind of raffle. Prizes on display are numbered. Customers pick a raffle ticket and win the prize the number matches up with

Sounds like a good week so far with the festival. I didn't care for the movie trolls and never seen a monster calls. Hope you have a good rest of your week and sorry to hear about your family friend passing.

Our local community often organizes a Tombola for the holidays. I hope you can take a photo of Shadow, I love black cats. I have the feeling you are enjoying your days at the festival event.

@arthurchappell Let's hope that Shadow is a friendly cat, cats have a mind of their own.

Sorry about the family friend. I also have a black cat named Lily. I loved the movie Extremely Loud And Incredibly Close. Trolls is an awesome kid movie. I will be watching A Monster Calls next week.

It's like a raffle or a lottery, where you take a ticket from a roller box, or a bucket, or something, and it gets matched up to a prize, or not.
