Long time ago when the roads are not yet cemented and the the rivers are not yet riprap and there were no big buildings and mansions, life is just like this carabao swimming in the ponds. When I was a child we used to take the carabao in the ponds and rivers to cool down his body. We used to ride at the back of the carabao. And while the carabao is playing we are picking pili nuts, guavas and other fruits. It was fun riding at the back of the carabao? Those days are gone now. I think this animal can also be considered endangered species because only few are them left. Gone with the wind. I took the photo.

@ebanreb Yeah it seems scary because it's high but as far as I know carabao's aren't mad if someone riding them behind is that correct?

@ilocosboy indeed, and the back of a water buffalo is so big that there was even a notion that a woman who rides at the back of a water buffalo or rides a bike will lose her virginity.

Camel, oh wow, isn't camel is larger than carabao? Our riding is a kids thing. You know during our childhood when people are still living in rural villages, we don't have much play so riding the carabao is one we do.

oh yes it safe when the carabao is friendly, but if its the kind of unruly one, beware you might fall from her back. During our childhood days, some of us would really stand at the back of this creature.

by its reaction, when you touch a behave carabao it will not move, while the unruly one, you only get nearer to it and but it will move away from you. don't force that kind of animal.

@ilocosboy but how would you know if it is a safe one or unruly one? Do you come close and look at its eyes to see if it is friendly enough? (sort of eye contact?)
