Here Today, Gone Tomorrow or Here Today, Here Tomorrow?

Seems lots of people just never 'get it' here. They might be here for a day or so...and then you might see them once or twice a week...or once or twice a month...and almost every one of them will talk about how 'hard' it is to earn here and how 'hard' it is to get interaction from people. And then I am here every day...all over the place usually...and I don't seem to find anything 'hard' about the place. And I have come to the shocking conclusion that the more often I am here, the more interaction I am going to receive, and the more interaction I receive, the more I am going to earn. But then...I am not here trying to earn...I am here trying to find something to do. Someone to talk to. Someone to joke around with. Someone to share my experiences with. I mean, because really, no matter how you look at it, $25-30 a month is not a reason to be here. So I would think people making less would consider it even less of a reason to be here. And that is good, in my opinion. Money shouldn't be the 'reason' anyone is here. Sure, it's a great incentive...but myself, I don't care how much I am being paid, if I don't enjoy it, I ain't gonna do it. But I enjoy it...and myLot pays me this little amount for my enjoyment...and the more enjoyment I have, the more myLot pays me... Someone told me my earnings here were 'the exception, not the rule'. But I disagree. The rule is if you are here as often as me (and others) and enjoy being here as much as me (and others) you will make as much as me (and others). The exception. really, is the people that come here to earn, find out it really isn't about earning, and leave. I honestly don't think anyone stays here for the money, although I could be wrong. I just think it is a nice side-effect of being here. But I could be wrong...

I say "hair" today gone tomorrow lol! The ones totally motivated by earnings are usually not going to be quality members here. I think most of us "regulars" are happy to earn a little coin and gladly accept payout but are primarily here for the reasons you state. If all a person wants to do is earn, then spend all the time doing surveys. But surveys can be hard work and many people want to post a few sentences and sit back and have the earnings roll in. Scar flips them the paw.

I did surveys for about five years. They would pour into my e-mail box, every day. At first I made a little money, then it grew to a fair amount, about $150 per month. But, I worked my heart out, seven days a week! More and more, the sites started cheating me out of cash, after completing a very long survey. I don't do surveys, except for one site. Legitimate ones are few and far between.

I completely agree with you. If it's an income your looking for this is probably not the right place for you. I enjoy being here which is why I stick around. And the little extra money we earn is nice too. =)

The only thing I don“t like about mylot is that my finger are shaky and it takes a while to write and another time to correct. What I like most are the friends. I do miss some of the friends from the old mylot though

@hereandthere The older I get, the more I want that. But then, how about my accent? Would that mean that there would be spelling problems?

@marguicha maybe a touchscreen where you can tap the word that you want to correct and you pick the right word from a box of suggested words. i wonder if such a thing exists?

We all have the same opportunities here . . . you get what you put into it. Some will do more than others, and others way less. What I get out of this place, I feel like I should be paying them !

On the whole, in my opinion, people that see mylot as [i]primarily[i] an earning site won't necessarily do too well. If they see it as a discussion site where you come to talk about a whole variety of issues, maybe make some friends and be paid a little for people finding you interesting enough to get back to...they'll do ok I earn next to nothing now and have very little time these days to be here as have a lot going on at the moment. I still like popping in for the odd few minutes/hours...days at a time. Can't get italics to work but you get my meaning

I am here every day. I enjoy reading all the discussions and seeing how everybody is doing each day. I have grown to care about a lot of people on here. The money is a nice added bonus to the site but there is just so much more to it then that. I agree if they are here solely to make money then this is probably not the place for them but if they would stick around and spend more time here they would see that it is a great place to be to hang out and to get to know people. Whenever I am online I am here.

Being paid is a nice side-effect of being here, but so is the human interaction... not to mention the chance to mess with peoples' minds...

You're so correct. Money as an incentive, yes, but it's hardly the reason. And, of course, if you're only posting five posts about me me me and I want money money money, you're not going to attract many people who want to interact. You could say that about someone who does nothing but write about country music, too....

I agree, I'm here for a good time, maybe not a long time........but I'm smiling while I'm here. Its not to be compared to a job, jobs pay real money, and like you mentioned, this pays an incentive, but not to be compared to a job. A job is work, and this should be much more fun and natural then work.

The earnings for me are irrelevant, just a welcome extra. I agree with all you say here, and I think all newbies should be directed to this post! Perhaps then they would 'get' it.

I think we'll always have some that won't, even if we took them by the hand and gently led them along the path while patiently trying to explain it

Yeah, if I didn't have you and others to talk to @JolietJake , that would leave me nothing but talking to the 13 cats; (as if they're listening). Somehow, I don't think the 'kids' are interested in: politics, religion, current affairs, the weather; well, maybe the weather; but that would be it.

I've been a member on many websites, but only two that I actually enjoyed and looked forward to. This is the second site where I've been active, with people I feel close to, individuals who make me feel safe, sharing things about my personal life. Some of my own family members look down their nose at me, like I'm stupid. I have never felt that way, on this site! It's a warm atmosphere, with some very, nice people, that I really care about The challenge here is a lot of fun!

I admit I found some very old members here who seem to have no concept of what interaction really means, interesting. Why do they constantly submit new discussions then walk away, never to come back to check what people reply? I just don't get it.

@YrNemo Some are that way...I know one that does nothing but post discussions...never comments to responses and never responds to discussions by anyone else...I'm guilty of occasionally just ranting about something and then walking off, but not often

@JolietJake Since the author did the same to everyone who replied to him, I thought that was so strange. (He continued submitting new discussions after that!)

Well said and I think you are right. I try to spend a couple of hours here every day, but it has been hard the last couple of weeks, between visiting family, my accident and bad internet. I did however get paid so that was good.

I have a reason not to be here as often as I used to and nor do I complain that I do not earn as I am earning good elsewhere. I am on an assignment for writing articles for a forum that is is on beta version. I earn good there and enjoying the experience I am still at $ 3,70 since the last 3 months.

I don't think you're wrong. i can't imagine anyone being here only for the money. I like seeing the little I earn come in but it's not enough to keep me here if I didn't like being here.

I had every intention of making this site a daily stop for me to come to, post, and interact with others. But, my bilateral macular degeneration and its comorbidities have made that hard at times. What blows my mind at times when I do come back in is how many of my older posts are still interesting, top rated, and hot. Don't get me wrong, though. In a way, that is great. But, it does make me wonder what had become of newer posts.
