Withdrawing payments using PayPal in the Philippines.

So I tried withdrawing PayPal balance using BPI over the counter and it works. BPI is one of the banks here in the Philippines. Gcash is like a money remittance payment method thing-a-majing. I think Gcash is having an update which make withdrawing funds from Paypal balance going to Gcash very difficult. I've just discovered that Gcash is using a "pre-approved payment" method so it is really within their scope on how are they going to resolve these withdrawal issues. With PayPal, you have the option what biller would you like to add on your account. In GCash case, since most of my members are using the Gcash portal, they can add their PayPal account as an option to fund the Gcash account. Then again, in PayPal's system, Gcash appears as a bill payment. And by Paypal terms and conditions, only debit cards and bank accounts allowed to w/draw funds. Example... Gcash = Meralco and Paypal = bank.. If PayPal is link via Gcash portal it appears in the PayPal system as Meralco. In some cases that you were able to withdraw using Gcash, it is like paying meralco then "withdrawing the money using meralco account" which is again, it shouldn't be because Gcash is not a bank. Most likely it will allow you guys to push it through once or twice as long as Gcash doesn't updates. Once Gcash makes system updates, the information in the"biller section" of Paypal account will not match the information given to PayPal system previously, making it not the same.. Or not matched. And so I tried BPI lately to test if it is going to work compared before.. Yup, it works. I am happy I got my money.

I just withdraw my money from PayPal directly to my BPI or BDO bank accounts. No hassles.

@hereandthere they say that there's a fee of php50 for withdrawals upto php7,000. And then there's like a php100-150 fee by the bank because they accepted the payment through PayPal and I find it weird.

@resy21curapika the 50 pesos deduction for fund transfers less than 7k from paypal to your bank applies to all phil. banks connected to paypal. the other additional fees vary depending on the bank

@resy21curapika It could be. But my Unionbank account is somewhat connected with my UMID issued by the Government Service Insurance System.

That's nice to hear that BPI is possible. I think I can use mine than the EON card of Union Bank.

Unionbank EON card is the first card that I've ever used to withdraw funds way back 2010. I think it is one of the best. However I didn't renew my card because they charged a fee of php500 and theor cards normally lasts for 2-3 years, I think.

@resy21curapika I guess I can use my BPI account. EON card seems complicated for the renewal.

@Shavkat yes. For EON renewal, there's a Php500 fee to be collected. I tried asking for a renewal since mine got expired over time. That's why I decided to put in my bank account and give it a try.

Thanks. This is my first time withdrawing funds at the bank. I normally withdraw my PayPal funds using a debit card.

Thanks. I was surprised because before it didn't allow us to do so. Here in the Philippinwa way back 2010, we're only allowed to link cards which has a Visa or MasterCard logo on it, but not a bank account.

Oh yeah, BPI works. Actually, any bank deposit account will do. I think it's a myth that we need a card to withdraw funds from PayPal. What we only need is have a bank deposit account to use with PayPal.

At first I tried adding a bank account but it didn't work and then I thought that bank accounts from the Philippines wouldn't work with PayPal. That was way back 2009. Good thing it is now accepted.

@SinfulRose That's true. It's now a good thing that PayPal decided to accept local banks.

@resy21curapika Ah. Those were the days when we still need to have either a Visa or Mastercard added onto our debit cards.

I have only link Union Bank as form of debit card. But I have bought a Western Union Mastercard debit card thing, not sure if that's going to work.

Nice! Pleaae let me know if it is going to work. I am trying to help a couple of friends who are member of a local online part-time job to link their PayPal account to a card so that they can withdraw their funds easily.
