Everything has to be politically correct today. The debate about Halloween is approximately of the same level than the debate about unbolting the statues of Columbus in the USA or of Colbert in France. Some people have something going wrong in their heads. No Halloween parties here, we are not worshippers of Satan
. I wish you a good evening

Stephen Colbert has not yet a statue in France. This one was a minister from the 17th C who codified many laws, from industry to forests. What is reproached to him is to have codified also the laws of the time to trade slaves. Like for Columbus, it is ridiculous, you cannot judge with a 21st C approach somebody living in the 15th or 17th C...

I was really hesitant to open this article, then I remembered not to judge a book by its cover. Meaning the title. :) It is strange that some people believe this holiday is about the worshipping of a certain person. Instead of it actually being of its true origin. It started in the Celtic times and people would light bonfires and wear costumes to ward off roaming ghosts.

@JolietJake I love researching things. Especially things of the unexplained variety. Also If I see that someone has said something that I know nothing about, I go in search for answers to broaden my understanding of that thing. You are never too old to learn something new. :)

Makes me wanna just beat my head on the desk sometimes, y'know?
People seem to have this habit of believing what they hear and not bothering to do any research regarding things.

I wish you had spelled it like some of the trolls used to spell it...that way you’d be worshipping satin.

I thought you already worshiped Satan whose earthly form is Scar.

When I lived in the South, I worked at a discount store similar to Dollar General or Family Dollar. We sold Halloween costumes in the fall. They were pretty cheap ones, vinyl outfits with logos printed on the front, plastic masks held on with elastic... but what else could you expect for $10? I remember some moms would respond loudly to their kids (when the kids pointed out the costumes and candy display) with "Oh, NO! We don't celebrate the devil's holiday!"
One mom said that she let her daughter dress up as a queen for Halloween because there were queens mentioned in the Bible, but since there was no Wonder Woman in the Bible, she couldn't have that costume.

@JolietJake I wanted to point out the witch costume and say "THEY'RE IN THE BIBLE, SO YOUR MOM SAYS IT'S OK!"

I'm dressing up this year, as a normal human being! Do you think anyone will recognize me, in this costume?

Halloween is not or should not be about such a thing as evilness. It's a time to poke fun at life's weird situations and dress up and pull out a few gags like dressing up like Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinsky. Or a pregnant nun. or something easy like Donald Trump. Putting on a presidential mask always goes over well. Try to find a funny theme instead.

@myklj999 I don't see a problem with that. It seems very sensible to me.

That's fine if the anti-Halloween folk don't want to participate; we devil worshipers don't wish to fraternize with them anyway.

Halloween has been a fun holiday, devoted to the children and some of them, aren't even kids any more! How many young people don't love candy? Basically, Halloween is a fun evening set aside for kids, to dress up and enjoy their life! It's my second favorite holiday
Have fun tonight!
