Thoughts on cable tv...

Lately, I cut down on my cable TV. With my wife not being able to work full time because of health issues, it was necessary. My wife, at first, was sad. Nonetheless, to keep she who must be obeyed happy, I subscribed to Hulu. Since then, she has been a happy camper. Many people are taking the route of eliminating cable TV. We do not miss it and we have save a couple of bucks. How about you? Are you willing to part with Cable and use your internet as your source of entertainment?

We haven't had cable since March. My kids have basic cable services right now since they are staying with my mom, but basically just have broadcast channels

I'm willing to part with the mainstream news because all they talked about are mostly a load of bull. I've long since stopped watching the TV but I couldn't help it when I want to verify some certain news. My family doesn't really need cable because I for one usually use my time either working on a project, working or reading or doing something else productive than being a couch potato. The same goes for the rest of my family.

We have gone that route in the past. It is cost effective in all honesty. We didn't have cable for a while to save and we got some again and we are paying $250 a for basic crap but its truly really expensive and not always worth it .

Not at this point. I understand the savings now but but those streaming rates are going to climb and to equal cable you need to have Hulu, Netflix, Amazon or just go with whatever is free on Roku. Pay extra fees if you want sports. But the biggest negative to cord cutting is unreliable streaming service. It doesn't take much to zap the internet.

I haven't had a problem going without TV and sticking to streaming in over 2 years. Maybe the problem is the internet service. Too bad they monopolize so you don't have choices of which company to use.

For the past more than 2 years I have been 100% without television/cable. I subscribe to both Netflix and Hulu and between those and YouTube, I can watch all the television shows I want for a lot less than cable. My combo VCR/DVD player stopped recognizing any CD's or DVD's I put in it so my television hasn't even been turned on in months. Any DVD's I watch are on my computer. So much cheaper.

I have, and I'm quite content. Now, understand I'm single and have no kids or grandkids, so it's not like I'm facing mutiny in the house.

I'm highly considering it as I am on the computer most of the time and my TV does nothing most days. I have Netflix, which I do like. I've used Hulu in the past when it was free.

It's good that you've found a solution to not having cable TV. We might as well not have a TV as we watch so little but I'm pleased for you - and your wife.
