I know. The suspense is killing me, too. I had to take a day off, but we are finally at #1 in my @FourWalls - inspired Favorite "Bodies of Water" series: "From the Edge of the Deep Green Sea" by The Cure.
I've used this song before, in my Robert Smith discussion in my Favorite Male Lyricists countdown. But in this case, as you'll see, I had no choice.
The Cure's 1992 album, Wish, is the band's most successful album, debuting at #1 in the UK, and reaching #2 on the Billboard 200. It has been certified gold and platinum in those two countries, respectively. It was also nominated for a Grammy.
The fourth track on that album, "From the Edge of the Deep Green Sea" was not a hit. As Rolling Stone Magazine points out, the song was not released as a single, it has, over the years, become a fan favorite.
In fact, judging from the number of live performance videos on You Tube, The Cure seems to play it in concert quite a bit.
"From the Edge of the Deep Green Sea" is basically a song from the point of view of an emotional guy wanting to end it with his girl. Basically. There are some interesting interpretations on the subject on the song's lyrics page on the Songfacts website, if you care to get further into it.
This one is simple math: The Cure being one of my favorite bands + it's my favorite Cure song + it's one of my favorite songs in general = #1 in this series. I've linked to an outstanding live performance.
Enjoy!

"She listens like her head's on fire."
Interpret it any way you like, but it's a good line.

I like when that happens. When a song that was not originally a hit turns into a time length hit. Took people time to get it I suppose. Why I say listen to every song that sounds decent or new more than once. Also why I hate so many negative comments on a songs that are just released.
Song has been out for five minutes, person probably listened to 10 or 30 seconds of it and goes this sucks, what happened to these guys? Go back 1 month later 500,000 views and this song is so awesome.

The funny thing is, if that had been all I wrote, a lot of people would have understood.

Although interesting song not my favorite. I do like the very melodic sounding "Burn" from the movie The Crow.
