Amused.

My sister is really becoming more of an OCD. I say this because she wants everything at home in order according to her wishes. That is why I and my son often steal some stares at each other.
This afternoon while I was preparing the dogs' lunch, my son washed the dishes. My sister was preparing the food of Sydney, the alpha male wannabe dog and Chibi, our pomeranian dog.
When my son finished the washing, my sister went to the kitchen and she noticed how my son put the clean butter knife in the utensils holder. She asked me why the knife was placed with the sharp end down. I did not respond. She turned the knife up and when my son came back to the kitchen, she asked him why. My son replied that the sharp edge of the knife should be positioned down because it can hurt the person who will take the knife out.
I turned the butter knife down again as shown in the picture.
I and my son think my sister is becoming more obsessed into fixing everything in place as she wishes to, and I am finding that amusing now.

@ridingbet She will, I am sure she will. She sounds stubborn like my mother.

which one? do you agree with how she should place the knife edge upside? my son said it should be downward to prevent any harm.

@m_audrey6788 but she also thinks that pointing the knife upside will attract some insects like ants in to licking the knife. i however told her that if the knife turned up and licked by an insect can be thoroughly washed before keeping it in the container

i had an officemate who would hide the knife inside the cabinet above the sink. when i asked why, she said they do it at home so her pamangkin (niece or nephew) won't reach it. huh? she probably forgot it's the office pantry and we're all adults.

@ridingbet she shouldn't hide the knife because it creates inconvenience for everyone else in the office. i found it accidentally.

@hereandthere yes, the knife in your cupboard should be exposed behind the glass cabinet.

really? maybe she thought you are her 'pamangkins' too, that she does not want you to get hurt.

my sister has the idea that the sharp edge should be clean, and she did not think about the possible danger of incising a finger.
OCD is obsessive- compulsive disorder.

i have already learn to take the actions of my sister lightly, because i would not want to irritate myself anymore. i can now smile if she gets angry. it is my heart that will suffer, if i will feel negativity in anything she does.

lol your son is right. My mother did the same thing. I told her to not put the knives in the holder to put them in the knives block.

even if we are only 3 at home, we should still be careful. besides, i would not want to bleed, because my clotting mechanism is not right. i am on Warfarin so if i bleed, it will take minutes to have the cut close and heal.

ingrid, your son was right to put the knife that way. Too bad your sister is not thinking what is right and what is wrong. People can get hurt if put it the wrong way.

my sister's explanation was also right because she thought that putting the sharp edge up will not touch the inner part of the strainer;but my son's reason is better because he said nobody has to get hurt when accidentally touching the sharp edge.
