An Embarrassing Moment

There are a lot of moments we have in life that are embarrassing. Today I will be sharing one of mine. Please note that this happened several years ago. I was out with my ex-sister in law one day as we had to go do banking and shopping. Although we went together there were different banks and shops we had to go to. To save time we decided that we would separate and then meet back at her car once we were done. Anyways I got all my stuff done and funnily enough, we both made it back to the car at the same time. We had enough time left over to go grab a bite to eat, we decided that a take away would be best. My ex-sister in law double parked the car in the parking lot of the takeaway shop as there were no parking available. She stayed in the car while I went an ordered two toasted sandwiches. The problem is they had messed up on the sandwiches and put tomato on it, which was not what I ordered. So I stood and waited for them to make another one. I glanced down at my watch and noticed that we were cutting it close to fetch the kids from school and we had to hurry. I went back to where the car was double parked and saw the car was in the parking, the problem is I just saw the car, I did not take note of the driver. so I opened the door and tried to climb in. Only to notice that it was not my sister in laws car. There was an elderly man sitting in the driver's seat and he was just as shocked as I was. I apologized and glanced up to see my ex-sister in law laughing in a parking three spaces away. She had gotten the parking before this gentleman with the same color and model of car had parked there. I was really embarrassed that day. The good thing is I learned to be more observant due to that mishap. Have you ever climbed into the wrong car by mistake? Image Credit: Pexels

Yes, it happened and there was even no one in the car. It was many years ago in Italy. We had a FIAT car, very common at those times in Italy. We went buying something, came out of the shop, my husband opened the door (using the key), we sit inside and the inside color was different. Imagine how safe those keys were!

@RodrickH This is how it should be, but we tried even to open the car of my father, that was also a FIAT but another model and the keys opened that door too.

@RodrickH Exactly! Something surely went wrong during the car keys production.

Almost but not quite. I managed to realize quick that it was another car but the same as ours. Seat 127 cars were all over the place then as well.

I always look at the registration number of a car to check that it is the car. There are so many similar types of cars. But that was funny that you mistook the car.

that is quite funny and embarrassing for you, sorry i laughed at you again i usually make a fool of myself in public since i am very clumsy - even walking in a straight line with polished floor makes me slip... I think i slipped again in public, just last Sunday, but i just laughed it off and walked far aways as fast as i can

It happened to my son. I was picking him up from school on the pick-up lane as usual. I saw him walking and wondered why he stopped at a similar color/model a few cars in front of me. He opened the car and was about to get in when he realized it wasn't ours...

Great story. My friend did that very same thing. After shopping on holiday she climbed into the car where her husband was waiting. Only it wasn't her husband; it was another startled man. They were on holiday and it was a rented car.

I don't recall doing that. So, what happened when you do that? What did the driver say to you?
