In the past, I have done music countdowns of both my favorite German and Canadian bands, so I was all over it when @JudyEv suggested a series of my favorite Australian groups. We are at band #8: Hoodoo Gurus.
Led by vocalist/guitarist Dave Faulkner (who also writes the band's songs,) Hoodoo Gurus formed in Sydney in 1981. After a six year hiatus in the late 90's/early 2000's, they are still going strong. Interestingly, the group started out with three guitarist's but no bassist.
(Fun Fact: Former guitarist Kimble Rendall was the second unit director of the last two Matrix films, as well as I, Robot.)
Members of the Australian Recording Industry Association Hall of Fame, Hoodoo Gurus have released nine studio albums (the first four of which reached #1 on the Billboard College chart, with their fifth peaking at #2.) The band has released 36 singles as well, four of which reached the Top 10 in Australia.
However, I have linked a non-hit, "Chop," because frankly, it flat out rocks, and serves as a good example of just how great this band is.
Enjoy!

Yeah, unless you were listening to college radio in the 80's, odds are that you wouldn't have heard about them.

I think my favorite song of theirs was "I Want You Back." I remember "What's My Scene" getting 120 Minutes airplay.
And I have to say they didn't "sound Australian," they had more of a "college rock" sound. I agree with JJ: hard to remember they are Aussie!

It's a great song. I'll have to listen to it from that perspective.
