The Post Card Show: Part 1

Friday my daughter and I went to the Post Card Show at the Community College. I was so excited that the day had finally arrived. At first, it seemed that the post cards were all going to be too expensive for what I wanted. There were some really interesting displays and some prizes had been awarded, so we took the time to look at a lot of the displays first. I thought we had plenty of time to do that. This was the first time I had ever been to a Post Card Show. I didn’t really know what to expect. Then, after looking at all of the displays and several tables of post cards, I found what I was looking for. Cheaper post cards! This one vendor had several boxes of post cards, at 4 for $1. I had to sit and would have to look through dozens of boxes however and I was just getting on a roll when my daughter got a phone call from her grandson. It was a situation where she felt that she had to leave, so I had to leave. I was not happy about it at all. It was not really an emergency. He had gone fishing and as the sun went down, he got cold and had not brought a coat or hat. According to him, he was “freezing.” At that point I had only found a few post cards that I MIGHT want to purchase, but hadn’t totally decided. I quickly looked through them and purchased them. We were in my car, so she drove back to my house, so she could get her car. I didn’t want her taking my car to the river for several reasons I won’t mention here. At that point, it was too late for me to go back to the Post Card Show. So, I would have to go again the next day. If there had not been a next day, I would have really been upset. This show was something that I had planned on for SIX months.

I suppose that many of the postcards were pre used ones?

A lot of the post cards had been used, written on and with many really old stamps that I'm sure some people wanted but I wanted CLEAN, unused post cards and I did find them. 4 for $1. Read my Part 2.

How lucky that there was a Day 2. I'm off to read about it now.
