So, Saturday, I went back to the Post Card Show by myself. I went early because I had the wedding shower to go to that afternoon and I hadn’t, at that point, got what I needed for that. I still needed to get the gift box for the shower gift.
To make a long story short, I sat for over two hours, looking through box after box of post cards. It was crazy. In the boxes, there were many post cards that had already been written on, or were old and dilapidated, mixed in with post cards that were clean and in good condition.
I was able to find many that I wanted and was very pleased that I was able to get them for 25 cents each. I ended up with about 200 post cards from Friday and Saturday combined. Since I have been spending about $14 a month for post cards, I was pleased to be able to get NICE post cards for a much better price.
Now, I will have a good supply of post cards to send out to other persons on Postcrossing.com. Since I send out around 10 or 15 per month, I should have enough to last until next year.
I was especially pleased to get some post cards with Virginia scenes, because most of the persons request post cards from where I live, so I have a really good supply of those now. I also was able to get some post cards from other places that I have personally visited in other states and countries.
So, right now, I’m pleased that I was able to go back on Saturday and finish my shopping for post cards. Something that I won’t have to be concerned about for a long time.

I am a little surprised by your mention of Virginia and many people preferring postcards depicting your locality. This infers that you send out postcards showing other scenes.
Personally I have only ever sent out postcards of whatever location I was in at the time.

I belong to Postcrossing.com and so I get addresses from that site for people who live in other countries and so I send them post cards from where I live, mostly. I also receive post cards from many different countries. Have you ever checked out that site?
Sometimes other members request particular types of post cards. For instance: they may want a particular animal or flowers or historic views, etc. I try to send them what they want, but if I don't have it, then I send them a post card from my area.
For myself, I don't request anything in particular, so I receive all sorts of post cards. I do like city scenes and historic scenes from another country. And I especially like all the different and unusual stamps that are on the post cards. I have a growing collection and I'm thoroughly enjoying this new hobby of mine.

@IreneVincent I know that many Mylot members are Postcrossing members, but have never looked at the site.

@Asylum Yes, some Mylot members are Postcrossing members. That's where I heard about it actually. I started about a year ago. I used to collect post cards way back when and then stopped, but I did find all my postcards. I had not thrown them away. Now, I am adding to my collection.
Post Card collecting is not for everyone but now that I'm retired, I thought it would be a good hobby for me. So far, I'm pleased with the site.

I got enough to last for about a year at the rate that I'm sending them out. So that will be perfect. I can go to the show next year and get some more. In the meantime, I just might join a LOCAL post card club. The only problem is that they meet on Tuesday evenings and I already attend a meeting on Tuesday evenings, that I won't give up.
I do know the organizer now of the Local club so I might be able to stay in touch with him and learn about other shows or events in this area.

@JudyEv Yes, I have his phone # and I just might contact him about other shows. He may also know of other collectors in this area that want to sell some posts cards at a good price.

@IreneVincent It's surprising sometimes what is around that you don't know about. Good luck with finding some fellow enthusiasts.
