Saddest Movie Ending

Out of all the movies with sad endings I've watched, this particular one left some impact. I've seen many movies where main characters either die in a horrible way or are left in positions worse than death. This movie is called the mist. It's about a mysterious mist that falls on a small town. Inside the mist there are monsters that kill people. A father and his son, along with two other survivors they met, escape after being trapped in a shopping mall. Their car stopped in the middle of nowhere surrounded by mist and all kinds of giant creatures. There was nothing there but certain death for them. The father pulls out his gun and kills his only son and the two other survivors. A quick and merciful death than being torn apart and eaten alive by monsters. There weren't enough bullets for him so he goes out waiting to be eaten only to find that the military started to clear the mist killing the monster along the way. If he had waited a little longer his son and the other survivors would've been alive. Until this day I can't watch this movie again. What was the saddest movie ending for you?
