Adding 4 gigs RAM to my PC was a SNAP

Well, I first got a shock when I received my brand new DIMM module.
Why was I a bit shocked? Not electrical shock mind you, but shocked because the new chip was half the height of the original one. It has the same 240 pins and slot configuration. I figured, maybe this is not the right chip. OMG. I went into temporary panic mode, but I went ahead and placed it in the blue slot to match the other 4 GIG chip and at first the top clicked in place but the bottom one did not quite want to click so I loosened it at the top a little then pushed in at the bottom one then the top one and finally both were clicked in place. I blew the dust out with canned air and wiped the area with a cotton cloth.
I ran a Windows memory diagnostic which required a restart and a two phase test before restarting and the final results were that I had no memory issues.
I checked my PC stats and discovered I now have a full 10.0 Gigabytes of Random Access memory in the system and all is in working order.
The thing that bugs me most, I found A DEAD ROACH laying on it's BACK at the bottom of the inside of the TOWER.
I was certain the chip was the right one as I ran my system model number through Kingston at first and was given the option to either order it through them or order it though Amazon so I got it today, actually a week earlier than expected from Amazon via United States Postal Service delivery truck.
I had been wondering for over half a year if I had the basic ability to upgrade my RAM myself and not have to pay a GEEK SQUAD dude to do it for 100 cups of coffee money.

That is terrific. Laptops can be great to take with you just about anywhere. They are light and mostly they are favored over desktops because of their portability. You might say that a laptop is the next step up from a tablet.

@thislittlepennyearns Mine acts funny at times, like when I am playing music and trying to write stuff here at myLot, sometimes my browser goes nuts and I get real upset and have to take a chill pill, so to speak.

I am no expert at this. It was just me and that PC one on one. I had to at least give it a try and well, I just got lucky.

Nice! That`s one good benefit of knowing on how to make your own computer upgrades

I remembered where the last chip was located and I pressed lightly at each end until I could snap both ends in place Then I ran a memory diagnostic, it was okay and I checked the memory stats on my computer and it listed met at having 10 gigs of RAM when before I added this chip I only had 6 gigs of RAM. I am a happy camper.

@m_audrey6788 , I might very well do more, like maybe add a solid state drive to it and even replace the graphics card with a better one, but that might cost a bit and the power supply has to support the new graphics card. They say they make better graphics adapters for desktop PCs to get more out of gaming. I seem to be doing fine with the one I have at this time so I think I will just stay with it for now. Upgrading a computer is a thing lots of people enjoy doing but I don't really like to do a lot. I like it when my computer is running smoothly and so far it is so I hope it continues for many more years.

I am sorry, Anthony, but I can just see you worrying about whether you could install the new RAM yourself. SMH!
Uhm... you are welcome to pm me and ask about things like this, if you want. I like helping people.
