Yes I know not every country celebrates us thanksgiving day. But when I was a tern my mom host the turkey dinner so I was able to go skiing that day. Hunter mountain was the first ski resort to open at that time.this was late 1979.early 1980s. Since they made their own snow.this was on the east coast area.today there are a few ski resort open now in N.Y. state And Vermont. Now I go to my cousins for thanksgiving and do not have time to go skiing that day.

I didn't realize that NY ski areas opened on Thanksgiving. I was born in the states but live in Canada now, Thanksgiving was a day to gather the family and we always had turkey. Here in Canada thanksgiving is earlier and it is the weekend of a big art show for me. My husband cooks and its usually turkey or lamb.

@eagletrek2 Right now there are 9 locations that are already opened here in Switzerland. Engelberg is the one with more snow, with a total of 7 feet.
