What To Write About?

Several persons on mylot have said that they can’t think of anything to write about, that people would be interested in reading and commenting on.
I have found that QUESTIONS are the best thing of all other things. And you can turn any subject into a question. Most people like to answer questions.
For instance:
What was the most interesting trip you very took?
For those who travel a lot, I’m sure that they have lots of interesting things to tell us and they WANT to comment.
For those who travel very little, the trips they have taken are also very interesting, when they mention various details about where they went and what they did on their trip. They WANT to tell you about it.
It may just be a “shopping trip” or a trip to the next state. It could be a special trip to visit someone they haven’t seen for a long time.
My most interesting trip was to Switzerland. I had always wanted to go, since I was a child and when it finally happened, I was delighted.
Growing up in the mountains of West Virginia and living for a couple years in Denver, Colorado, and being able to go skiing in the Rocky Mountains, I have decided that I love the mountains more than any other place I could visit.
So when I went to Switzerland and rode the train for two hours up into the Bernese Oberland to Bern, I was enchanted with the snow on the Alps. The mountains and the blue lakes and the Swiss chalets. So beautiful!
A very short trip I took was to Monticello, the home of Thomas Jefferson near Charlottesville, Virginia, about an hour or so from where I live.
The tour of the house was fascinating. To see how the “dumb waiter” worked and all of the unusual furniture and other items in the house was very interesting.
Have you ever been to Switzerland or to Monticello?
Tell me about your favorite trip?

@IreneVincent Oh, thank you
! I am glad that you had a good teacher, I would not tell the same about all my English teachers. If you were spending a few days in a French speaking country, I am sure that all your French would be back soon. I have the same problem with Spanish. I go to Spain 1 or 2 times a year for 1 or 2 days, and I need a few hours to remember my Spanish and speak fluently. You never forget a foreign language, it is just hiding somewhere in your brain and is quickly back when you need it.

I have never been to France, although I have always wanted to go. I took a French class in high school and I had a Pen Pal in France at that time. I had a wonderful teacher and I still remember a lot of the French that I learned although it was over 50 years ago.
Unfortunately, I have had no one to speak French to, in all these years, so I have forgotten more than I remember. I think that French is a beautiful language.

@topffer I hope you are right. Although, sadly, I don't think that I will ever be in a position to use the French that I learned that hopefully is still in my brain.
I have a friend who speaks Italian and several who speak Spanish. So, I've learned some of those expressions and use them occasionally. I would really like to take a class in Spanish.

Most people on mylot enjoy reading about what people do on a daily basis, especially if what you write has an exciting TITLE.
Which would you rather read? "What I Did Today" or "You Will Never Believe What Happened to Me Today." or "Excitement in the Mall Today" or "Guess Who I Met Today?"
The Title is IMPORTANT!

@IreneVincent Looks like the long post with a list of things people did today gets a lot of responses. What you did exciting seems to only get one response. LOL.

I'm the same way. I have lots of things to write about. For me, its easy to write. It's not always so easy though to find things that others enjoy reading and commenting about.
And actually, I need to do MORE commenting myself on what others write. I like to go to the "Most Recent Discussions" and look for interesting posts. I plan to do more of that.

Trips are just one thing to write about. What is your favorite song? Or what is the BEST novel you ever read? Or what is your favorite pass time? How do you relax? What is a vivid memory from your childhood?
I'm writing my Memoirs right now for my grandchildren and I'm recalling many things from my childhood and my teenage years and even the early years of my marriage. Things that I haven't really thought about for some time. I'm enjoying the "journey" myself.

I'm sure that Hong Kong was different in MANY ways. I have never been there but I have read about Hong Kong. What did you find there that was the MOST interesting? Did you get to ride in one of those colorful taxies? The ones that are pulled by a person. Don't they have those in Hong Kong?
