I try to be sensitive to the feelings of my readers so I've been balancing the bubblegum countdown with ten classic rock songs that are overplayed or are from bands that I don't like as a rule. Here's the top song on the "big surprise" list, because I'm sure nobody would peg me as a fan of this band.
#1: Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap - AC/DC
It's been a rough month for the Hall of Fame band: in October George Young, the older brother of Angus and Malcolm and the producer of the early AC/DC albums, died. Then a few days ago Malcolm lost his battle with dementia. Front man Bon Scott died in 1980 after a night of heavy drinking. AC/DC came back from that traumatic loss, but I don't see them continuing after the loss of their co-founder.
I'm really not a fan of AC/DC. But I'll qualify that: not of the Brian Johnson era. I actually did like the Bon Scott era of AC/DC, which was cut short by Scott's death. Unlike Johnson, who to me (personal opinion here, remember...it isn't right or wrong, it's just my opinion) sounds like every other hard rock lead vocalist, Bon Scott had a distinct and unique voice. It's not that he didn't let go a scream with the rest of them, but when he sang (especially on the "quietly threatening" list of deeds, or the bluesy [and dirty] "The Jack") his voice came across as one of a kind.
And heck, what's not to like about this tongue-in-cheek song about a guy who offers services, from gigolo to murderer, at a cut-rate fare? How about that phone number (36-24-36)? The humor and Bon Scott's unmistakable voice make it a great song.
Thanks for reading.
Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap
Written by Bon Scott, Angus Young, and Malcolm Young
Recorded by AC/DC
From Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap, 1976

Good article. They were not my favorite band, but I did like some of the music, just not the singer's voice. When this song first came out, I couldn't make out the title, and for a month or two I thought it said, Dirty Deeds and the Dondo Chief.

@FourWalls Wow, I really didn't understand the song, until I saw the one picture, and that was enough for me.
At first, I thought he was the actual singer, his voice is that good.

Yeah!!!! I do like Brian Johnson. He was a good soundalike for Scott and I like his growly vocals.

If have to admit it is such a cleverly written song. And Bon Scott's unique voice makes you pay attention while listening
That song has one of the best rock screams I've ever heard!!! Not a huge fan either....
