After lunch some of us probably read books, newspaper, etc. Some other take a nap or just have a rest chatting with our friends. I noticed a few nod off and on while reading. What actually caused them to fall asleep just after lunch. Is it because they energy they have is being utilized to digest food? Image credit: Pixabay

More likely! The digestive system must have said to the rest of the body, 'get lost will you, I need to do my job now!'

Some days I need a nap after I eat. I think carbs like pasta and such foods make us sleepy.

I watch TV during the week before and after lunch. A nap would sound good but then I could not sleep good at night.

I really get lazy when my stomach is full in the afternoon. If I'm home I'll just take a nap.

That is great. After lunch, I sit, read, and automatically fall asleep.

Yes, I do but I do my best to not fall asleep immediately. I like to wait for an hour or two before sleeping.

Probably the sleepiness is caused by one's physical condition not due to having had something to eat.

The reason is that the brain need to utilize more time to digest your food. In my case this afternoon when I felt sleepy I just doze off and took a nap.
