Sunglasses

If you plan on being outside in the sun, the American Optometric Association highly recommends that you wear sunglasses to shield ultraviolet rays, which can cause numerous eye problems, such as snow blindness, cataracts, and even eye cancer. My friend up there in the photo takes it to the extreme and wears them indoors, even in dark bars. He also chain smokes, but that's for another time. His glasses are made by Smith Optics, and come with four different strength interchangeable plastic lenses, from very dark to clear for night rides. He had, on the day this photo was taken in a Denver bar/pizza joint, opted for the medium lenses. Better safe than sorry, he always says. Those Smith's aren't cheap, but if you don't believe me about the benefits of wearing sunglasses, please heed the advice of ZZ Top, live, in 2007: (Info verified by Wikipedia)

I find it difficult talking to people wearing sunglasses. I can't tell if they're looking at me or not. I like to be able to see a person's eyes when I'm talking to them.

I agree. BTW, in "Aussie speak" they are "sunnies" at least that's what they call them on TV shows.

@JohnRoberts Yes, that's true. We tend to abbreviate a lot of words.

When I was 19, I worked at a car wash. We had to take them off if we were talking to a customer.

My eyes are very sensitive to light. I hate going outside without them. Luckily, my glasses are photogrey.

I've worn glasses since I was in the fourth grade. I'm used to having them on my nose.

I see the necessity of wearing them in California. Wearing them at the gym, not so much.

@infatuatedbby - Are these the serious lifters, or just people in there to be seen?

I'm in need of buying a new pair of sunglasses. I've had my last pair so long they have fallen apart. As it's coming into summer here in NZ I think this will have to be my Christmas treat for myself.

I am outdoors a lot - but don't wear sunglasses in most cases. I've never ever found the perfect ones that look or fit right on me. I hate driving with something on my face, but do admit it's scary when the sun can be blinding in the late afternoons.

@teamfreak16 I wonder if they have contacts that have darker lens that act like sunglasses?

My eyes are kind of light sensitive, especially if I am wearing contacts. I need to wear them.

I do believe in you. Back when I was in college and that was when I was only 19, I went to see my eye doctor because I was having some dizzy spells. She told me my eye pressure is high but still within the average. She advised me to wear sunglasses every time I'm out so I won't end up with cataracts.

I'm not comfortable wearing sunglasses when I'm outside. I'm not used to it. But maybe I should try to get used to it to protect my eyes from dust and ultraviolet rays

@teamfreak16 Since I am living on a tropical island, it is inevitable to experience a bright light from the sun.
