Dog to be Killed

A beautiful blonde Lab named "Lamb of God" or "Lambie" is going to be euthanized tomorrow morning if a judge doesn't stop the execution. A homeless man was using Lambie to make money by dressing him up and letting people take pictures with him. Well, over the last year it appears that Lambie has bitten three children; the latest boy being 13-years-old. Now I don't know, maybe Lambie didn't like the smell of the kid; who knows, but to place an order to kill the dog? How about the guy giving up the dog to a shelter where it could be re-trained? Since the dog 'might' be considered a biter, how about giving it to the police to be trained as a police dog. Since the guy and dog are homeless, maybe the dog has come across some mean kids and doesn't want to take pictures with them because he considers them a threat. It's a sad deal no matter how you look at it. https://www.nbcdfw.com/news/local/Judge-Denies-New-Trial-for

That is really sad. Even if the concern is public safety there has to be another alternative that is better than killing the dog.

And I think of the owner had never put that dog in that position, it never would have happened @cahaya1983 .

I'd blame the teen, dogs don't bite for no reason especially one like Lambie whose been around people a lot. I'm betting that teen did something that pissed the pup off.

Good point @JolietJake but I've had boys round here that antagonized Mykey to the point where he hated boys and I had to watch him closely just in case, Mykey would have bitten those brats if he coulda. I know it's not always the fault of the kids but all too often boys will tease a dog until it bites.

I agree @rebelann . When I had the shelter here and people came to look at dogs for adoption, I would see changes in the dogs attitudes about some people 'including children'.

@JolietJake Could be that the dog was just having a bad day or was hungry or tired.

Me too @hostessman . I'd be the first one to adopt him but I've got 12 cats and 3 donkeys to already take care of.

I guess it would depend on how violent the attack was. If it caused major scarring or surgeries, then I would agree that this might be the right route, but if the dog just nipped at the boy, then this is wrong.

Really sad story too. Maybe they can save his life at the last moment? Maybe someone will get to know about him and take him on to give him a home. He might have only snapped at them or what?

Someone would have to step up and tell the judge that they will take him @lovinangelsinstead21 . One of the kids I understand had stitches in the face due to the bite.

@nanette64 Oh dear that does not sound too good in favour of the dog but if someone were willing to take special care of him he could be cured of that bad habit.

The dog should not be killed because he has a stupid owner.

Dogs are put down in England if they harm someone, but I think they have to really savage them. I think just a bite would result in an order to keep the dog under control. So sad if this dog has to die, especially when it seems he could have been provoked.

I feel so bad for the dog @jaboUK because he doesn't even understand what is going on.
